Vanwege materieeltekort (waar heb ik dat meer gehoord) reden er in de jaren '80 en '90 regelmatig gehuurde Duitse rijtuigen in de binnenlandse dienst. Op 05-12-1990 passeerde NS 1160 met IC 1547 Den Haag - Venlo (4 DB+2 NS) nabij Nuenen ter hoogte van het oude VAM-raccordement.
