Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and HFF

OLT Express Germany was an airline based in Bremen. It operated regional scheduled and charter flights linking northern Germany to other parts of the country and Bremen to other European destinations. Its main base was Bremen Airport. OLT was founded on November 1, 1958, as Ostfriesische Lufttaxi - Dekker und Janssen OHG, initially operating air taxi flights to islands in the North Sea from Emden. In 1972, the airline was renamed Ostfriesische Lufttransport GmbH (OLT). In August 2011, the island air service was spun off as OFD Ostfriesischer Flugdienst, while OLT rebranded as OLT Express Germany. On September 1, 2012, OLT Express Germany acquired the Stuttgart-based airline Contact Air. OLT Express Germany ceased all operations on January 27, 2013.

An old photograph taken in York Road, Osmondthorpe, (just before its junction with Gipton Approach) of a Kippax Motors (KM) Daimler bus fleet No. 16 (registration EWU247) showing a 'Private' destination blind, and three Leeds City Tramways (LCT) 'Feltham' trams (of which I can only make out details of the first two). The front tram is No. 565 showing a '26 - Middleton Circular' destination blind, and just behind it No. 558 showing a '27 - Belle Isle' destination blind. In Jun 1956 KM came under the control of the Wallace Arnold group but operated as a subsidiary using its usual Kippax name.
The photo reverse is annotated with "Osmondthorpe, York Road", is stamped with the photographer (and/or negative owner) name of R. B. Parr, and dated 12 Sep 1956.

EWU247 fleet No. 12 was new to KM in 1944 comprising a Daimler CWA6 chassis No. 11527 and a Roe utility body seating 56 (H30/26R). It was rebodied in 1953 with another Roe body seating 56 (H31/25R) and its fleet number changed to 16. In Sep 1966 it was withdrawn, being sold the following month to 'Dysons Motor Auctions' of Leeds. I have no details for it after that.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
LCT No. 565 was originally *London United Tramways (LUT) tram No. 357 built in 1930/31 by the Union Construction Co. in Feltham, Middlesex. It seated 22/42 and ran on EMB maximum traction trucks.
In 1933 LUT was absorbed into the *London Passenger Transport Board (LPTB) and the tram was renumbered 2126. During the 'closure cycle' of the LPTB tram system (closing in Jul 1952) a number of 'Feltham' class trams were sold to Leeds.
Leeds received No. 2126 in Jun 1951 where it was stripped, overhauled, and renumbered 505. It was repainted in a BET red livery Mar 1952 but then did not enter passenger service until Feb 1955.
In Oct 1958 it was withdrawn from service and the following month exchanged numbers with No. 524.
No. 524 (ex 565) was burned at the yard of Johnson's of Churwell in Apr 1959.
----------
The original No. 524 had been *Metropolitan Electric Tramways (MET) tram No. 332 built in 1930/31 by the Union Construction Co. in Feltham, Middlesex. It seated 22/42 and ran on EMB maximum traction trucks.
In 1933 MET was absorbed into the *London Passenger Transport Board (LPTB) and the tram was renumbered 2076. During the 'closure cycle' of the LPTB tram system (closing in Jul 1952) a number of 'Feltham' class trams were sold to Leeds.
Leeds received No. 2076 in Nov 1950 where it was stripped, overhauled, and renumbered 524. It was repainted in a BET red livery and entered passenger service Feb 1951.
No. 565 (ex 524 until Nov 1958) was withdrawn from service Mar 1959 and in the July was burned at the scrapyard of George Cohen & Son Ltd., in Brown Lane, Holbeck.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
LCT No. 558 was originally *London United Tramways (LUT) tram No. 352 built in 1930/31 by the Union Construction Co. in Feltham, Middlesex. It seated 22/42 and ran on EMB maximum traction trucks.
In 1933 LUT was absorbed into the *London Passenger Transport Board (LPTB) and the tram was renumbered as 2121. During the 'closure cycle' of the LPTB tram system (closing in Jul 1952) a number of 'Feltham' class trams were sold to Leeds.
Leeds received No. 2121 in May 1951 where it was stripped, overhauled, and renumbered 558, it was repainted in a BET red livery and entered LCT service in Dec 1951. It was withdrawn from service Sep 1957 and the following month was burned at Lowfields Road Permanent Way Yard.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The parts of the Leeds tramways systems that had not already been withdrawn or transferred to bus operation closed in Nov 1959.
* The London Passenger Transport Board (LPTB) absorbed the local London tramway companies (such as LUT and MET) in 1933 and in turn was replaced in 1948 by the London Transport Executive (LTE), post 1933 the usual operating name of both was 'London Transport' (LT).
Any photograph, ephemera, etc I post on Flickr is in my possession, nothing is copied from another location. The original photographer may have taken copies from their original negative and passed them out (sold them?) so there may be other copies out there of your (and my) 'original' transport photo, although occasionally there may be 'holiday snaps' type photos where there are not any other photos exactly the same in existence.
If you wish to use this image (bearing in mind it may not be my copyright) or obtain a full size version (most of my uploads are small size) please contact me.
