Mal wieder etwas älteres. Sporadisch wurden die Ae 6/6 am Ende des Jahres 2013 eingesetzt. Im Dezember ging es dann zu Ende, jedoch konnten Anfang des Monats noch ein paar Bilder gemacht werden. Einer der letzten Züge mit Ae 6/6 war der "Striegelzug". Bei Minustemperaturen konnte dieser mit der zu diesem Zeitpunkt schönsten Ae 6/6 der 11470 abgelichtet werden.

Yesterday I visited Kanchipuram and in search of a temple supposed to be Pallipadai temple of Great Rajendra Chola situated in a remote place called Bramadesam (பிரம்மதேசம்). I am happy to see this majestic temple with beautiful Chola architecture. Pallipadai temples (பள்ளிப்படை கோயில்) are constructed over the mortal remains of great people..

' 'அலைகடல் மீது பல கலம் செலுத்தி’ என்றுதான் அவன் மெய்கீர்த்தி சொல்கிறது. கடலின் தன்மை தெரிந்து, காற்றின் தன்மை தெரிந்து, இருட்டில் சுடர் மூலம் வழி தெரிந்து, ஆமைகள் போகிற நீரோட்டப் பாதை தெரிந்து, நூற்றுக்கணக்கான நாவாய்கள் அதாவது மிகப் பெரிய மரக்கலங்களோடு அவன் கிழக்கே உள்ள நாடுகளுக்குப் போயிருக்கிறான். இன்றைய சிங்கப்பூர், மலேசியா, ஜாவா, இந்தோனேசியா... எனப் பல நாடுகளில் அவன் கால்கள் பதித்திருக்கிறான். போரில் வென்று பெரும்பொருட்களை தமிழகத்துக்குக் கொண்டுவந்திருக்கிறான்.Presiding deity is Chandramouliswarar.

Im September 2013 war ich ein paar Tage am Gotthard und verbrachte einen Mittag auch an dem berühmten Wattinger Kehrbogen. Die Ae 6/6 Einsätze waren zu diesem Zeitpunkt fast gleich null. Als dann die in Erstfeld vorgespannte 11470 vor einer einer Re 6/6 mit einem Kieszug auftauchte konnte ich es fast nicht glauben… Aber es war tatsächlich eine Ae 6/6! Am Gotthard Ende 2013!
112 108, pulling RE 11470 from Hamburg to Lübeck, has just passed Berliner Tor, only a view minutes after departure from Hamburg main station.
Im August 2012 war ich zwei Wochen in der Ostschweiz unterwegs. Damals wurde der Mittags Güterzug von Buchs nach Zürich mehr oder weniger inoffiziell mit der Baureihe Ae 6/6 bespannt, die heute leider komplett ausgerottet wurde (bis auf ein paar z-Loks). Bei Mols am Walensee konnte der Zug am 15.8.2012 mit der roten 11470 fotografiert werden.
In den letzten Zügen war wortwörtlich die Baureihe Ae 6/6 im Herbst 2013 - in Eglisau konnte die rote 11470 mit einem Güterzug von Zürich nach Schaffhausen auf dem bekannten Viadukt in Szene gesetzt werden.
Meine letzten Ae 6/6 Bilder machte ich im Dezember 2013, also kurz vor ihrer Abstellung. Die Ae 6/6 11470 hatte den Stücker nach Rothenburg gebracht und befindet sich hier auf dem Rückweg bei Hunzenswil und wird in Kürze Zürich erreichen.

Suite à l'arrivée du sixième et dernier "Star" (Be 4/8 110-115, Stadler) à Langenthal, la Be 4/4 302 a été transférée de Langenthal à Ins, puis sur la ligne Biel/Bienne - Täuffelen - Ins pour servir de réserve pour le trafic de gravier Finsterhennen - Sutz.

Bis Ende 2013 waren ein paar wenige Ae 6/6 noch in der Schweiz unterwegs. Jetzt stehen die letzten abgestellt und warten auf das was kommen mag...
Aus diesem Grund stand diese Baureihe 2013 ganz oben auf meiner Liste - am 27.11.13 war die 11470 mit Güterzug von Singen nach Zürich bei Lottstetten unterwegs.

Note, 31460 was built by Brush Traction (works number 297) at the Falcon Works in Loughborough in April 1961 for British Railways as number D5696, being renumbered 31266 in January 1974. It was fitted with electric train heating equipment, being renumbered 31460 on 21st December 1984. It was placed in store at Bescot Traction Maintenance Depot in week commencing 7th December 1992, was withdrawn from service on 1st October 1993 and was transferred on paper to Transrail Freight Limited on 1st April 1995 as part of the privatisation of British Railways. Transrail Freight Limited was purchased by North and South Railways Limited on 24th February 1996 and was renamed as English Welsh & Scottish Railway Limited on 14th October 1996. 31460 was sold in September 2001 to a private owner for use with Fragonset Railways Limited, arriving at Barrow Hill on 16th June 2002 for further storage. Fragonset Railways Limited became part of F M Rail Limited in January 2005. 31460 was sold for scrap to T.J. Thomson & Son Limited, and was cut up at Stockton-On-Tees in December 2006

On 19th August 1978 Ashford held an open day, one of the exhibits was Departmental Instruction Unit No 055 formed of former 4-SUB unit No 4367 built 1947/48 ADB975319 (Ex 10919) ADB975320 (Ex 10171) ADB975321 (Ex 11470) and ADB975322 (Ex 10920) it was converted in 1974 and scrapped in 1987.

Parmi les dernières Ae 6/6 à avoir été déclassées en décembre 2013, les machines 11470 ex "Brugg" rouge et 11517 ex "Brunnen" verte sont préparées pour un transfert en véhicule dans un train Cargo en gare de Biel RB. Cette gare est encore équipée de signaux mécaniques (!) dont des câbles de commande sont disposés en bordure de voie.

Entered service as LYR Class 25 0-6-0 no 529 May 1881. Rebuilt as a Class 23 0-6-0ST May 1896. Became LMS 11470 after the 1923 grouping. Renumbered 51470 September 1950 and withdrawn October 1955
This is the steel caboose that GN built for Emil Blazina to use on the local train out of Kelly Lake, Minnesota. Jack Porzig did a nice reference sheet on this car for GNRHS back in September 1993. It was Sheet No. 206. I'll have quite a bit more on the history of this car (that wasn't covered in the reference sheet due to space limitations) and how the brass model came to be made in HO scale by Overland Models in 1988.
Briefly, the prototype was rebuilt from double sheath box car GN 50134 at St. Cloud and put into service with caboose trucks under it in December 1962 as the X-176. Two years later the twin thermo-electric generators were added to the roof just in front of the cupola. Those were the generators that powered the radio and lights inside the caboose. The propane tanks that powered the generators were located in the bottle holders mounted to the frame just ahead of the toolbox on this side only. The car weighed 56,700 lbs. which was more than sufficient to keep it on the rails where its smaller, lighter, wooden caboose siblings easily popped off the track when servicing the many ore mines located along the GN's line from Hibbing, through Kelly Lake, and west to Gunn.
The car was renumbered to X-321 in January 1970 just a month before the BN merger. The car ran on BN wearing red paint and the X-321 number. In October 1972 it was renumbered BN 11470 but kept the red paint until late 1976 when the car was repainted into BN Cascade green with yellow ends. BN 11470 is the number it was wearing when it was retired in June 1983 and it sat near the turntable north of the diesel shop at Northtown Yard in Minneapolis for several years. It was billed to be scrapped via Northgate to Canada but that never happened and the car moved to the west coast along with many other BN cabooses during the period 1990-1992.
Fortunately the car was saved and became part of the collection of equipment at the Hillyard Heritage Fire and Rail Museum in Spokane, Washington. But it's a shame that it didn't stay in Minnesota since it is an important part of Minnesota's railroad legacy—especially on the great Mesabi Range and the town of Hibbing—because when Emil and his crew were having lunch in the diner up the street this is the car that was parked by the depot. How fortunate we are that this photo was snapped before the train left town again for Kelly Lake.
