Der Ort teilt sich in zwei Gebiete: die Ville haute (Oberstadt) genannte mittelalterliche Altstadt und die Marina im Hafenbereich. Die Ville haute liegt auf einer 900 Meter langen, schmalen, parallel zur Küste verlaufenden Landzunge aus Kalkstein, der Île de Fazio, die an ihrer Seeseite aus einer durchschnittlichen Höhe von 70 Metern faktisch senkrecht zum Meer hin abfällt.
Der Hafen von Bonifacio mit dem Kalksteinplateau im Süden und der darauf angesiedelten Altstadt ist wohl einer der eindrucksvollsten im Mittelmeerraum. Das äußere Ufer ist derart ausgewaschen, dass die Häuser darauf wie auf einem Balkon stehen.

Der Mount Agung ist ein kegelförmiger Stratovulkan, der aus Andesit und andesitischem Basalt besteht. Entstanden ist er durch Subduktion der ozeanischen Kruste. Sein Zentral-Krater befindet sich westlich der höchsten Erhebung, er misst 500 Meter im Durchmesser und ist 200 Meter tief. Die bisherigen Eruptionen verliefen häufig explosiv. Im 19. Jahrhundert brach der Vulkan dreimal aus. Über die Eruptionen davor ist wenig bekannt. Der Ausbruch von 1843 hatte nach neueren Schätzungen den Vulkanexplosivitätsindex VEI=5 (frühere Schätzung VEI=2). Im Schnitt haben die Ausbrüche des Vulkans VEI=2 bis VEI=3. 25 % der Ausbrüche können aber ähnlich oder sogar größer sein als die Eruption von 1963 mit VEI=5.
Mount Agung or Gunung Agung
is a volcano in Bali, Indonesia, southeast of Mt Batur volcano, also in Bali. Gunung Agung stratovolcano is the highest point on Bali. It dominates the surrounding area, influencing the climate, especially rainfall patterns. From a distance, the mountain appears to be perfectly conical. From the peak of the mountain, it is possible to see the peak of Mt Rinjani on the nearby island of Lombok, to the east, although both mountains are frequently covered in clouds.
Gunung Agung is an active volcano, with a large and deep crater that occasionally emits smoke and ash.
Having begun in 2017, this volcano's latest eruption is ongoing as of 2018

Inzwischen eher selten sind die Jahrelang im Transitverkehr üblichen Re 10/10. Umso mehr freute ich mich, als am Morgen des 6. März 2025 eine Re 10/10 mit einem Güterzug aus Gerlafingen angerauscht kam.

Mount Hood (11249 ft), called Wy'east by the Multnomah tribe, is a stratovolcano in the Cascade Volcanic Arc of northern Oregon. It is located about 50 miles (80 km) east-southeast of Portland.
The peak is home to 12 named glaciers and snowfields. It is the highest point in Oregon and the fourth highest in the Cascade Range. Mount Hood is considered the Oregon volcano most likely to erupt, though based on its history, an explosive eruption is unlikely. Still, the odds of an eruption in the next 30 years are estimated at between 3 and 7 percent, so the U.S. Geological Survey characterizes it as "potentially active."

Les locomotives TEE IRSI Re 4/4" 11393 et TEECL Re 4/4' 10034 encadrent les trois voitures Prestige Continental Express issues de la transformation de WR ex-DB et ex-CFF (prototype EW IV).
La Re 4/4' 10034 a retrouvé sa livrée TEE. Les autres Re 4/4' aux couleurs TEE étaient les unités 10033, 10046 et 10050. Cette dernière, qui était restée en livrée TEE avait été précipitamment démolie à Rothrist.
La Re 4/4" 11393 (Re 421 393) de 1985 fut réceptionnée en rouge. Les Re 4/4" des CFF TEE étaient les machines 11158-11161 et 11249-11253.
