Full day of work behind her, Laura came by to pose for me, had a project that needed doing, a project that needed my best models.
Went and hung my 1K light on the rafter outside (I'd gotten bored shooting in my apartment), put the lady in front of it.
As is her habit, she did not disappoint.
Shoot like this, it's smooth, it's easy (though we both found ourselves frustrated with the film we were using), it's doing familiar moves with a regular dance partner.
Love shooting new folks, hearing new stories, but there is something very comforting in working with a good friend.
Finally Thanksgiving Break. Sucks how we only have a week off, though. It's starting to get freezing too.
Photoshoot Day = Success
Walked over to Monica’s house with Nic in the afternoon just to kick back and do a little photoshoot with Angie. We were out on the streets doing nothing but taking pictures for a few hours. And see that brick wall? I had hella trouble getting up there.
Good day
Sitting along the marshes in Little Neston, The pub was named after the many Welsh miners brought over the river Dee to work in the new coal mines.
Good timing, really.
Teresa and I had been planning a shoot for an age, weathered cancellations on each side, finally met up at the base of my favorite Griffith Park mountain.
And I just happened to have had several packs of Impossible Project film, sent to me that I could take some shots for their NY exhibition.
Right after "hey, glad to meet you, thanks for agreeing to climb up this wicked steep hill to have your picture taken by some (admittedly) awesome dude you've never met" I made sure to tell her this would be tricky.
Tricky because Impossible Project film is tricky. Remarkably better than the first batch to come from their factory...what, in January?
But still tricky. Still unpredictable. Still temperamental.
Thing of it was, we had ourselves a blast trying to figure it all out, figure out the new new film they'd sent, film I had no experience with, film with its own specific and vexing properties.
Frustrating as it was, it was also more than a little exciting, that sense of discovery mingled with success punctuating failure.
Pulling off a good Polaroid shot...I got that. Been at it a long time.
Pulling off a good Impossible Project shot...that there is something to feel proud of. Fighting the film to make
it
do
what
I
want.
Winning feels good.
After 2 hours of snowfall - 4 inches. Then snowed another couple hours. Then started melting. Won't stay long. Typical spring snowfall.

Apologies to those of you who have no interested in St. Patrick’s Day but I am about to upload many photographs of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin. I will begin with photographs of Shorecrest High School and over the next few days I will upload photographs of other bands and pageant groups. I selected Shorecrest because they are a favourite of mine.
I had a few problems this year [1] The organisers had in the past provided two buses as platforms for the media and this year they also supplied buses but one was for international media and the other was for local media. The bus that I was assigned was badly located because multiple street signs obstructed the view to a unacceptable extent and the result was that I had to shoot at an unsuitable angle or crop my photographs to an unacceptable degree [many of the photographers were really annoyed however as I am a street photographer rather than a professional I was not especially annoyed and I can’t really complain] [2] I used a camera/lens combination that I had not used before and this also impacted on my photographs especially as some were out of focus. [3] I was suffering from a really bad cold [that’s life, is it not].
The good news is that the weather was excellent and the parade was interesting and I enjoyed. After the parade I had an excellent lunch at Hanoi Hanoi and the owner supplied me with a special treat to cheer me up … thanks!
