Wikipedia: Prasat Mueang Tam is a Khmer Hindu Temple in Prakhon Chai District, Buriram Province, Thailand. It is primarily in the Khleang and Baphuon styles, which dates its primary phases of construction to the late-10th and early-11th centuries. The primary deity was Shiva, although Vishnu was also worshipped there.
Like most Hindu temples, Mueang Tam is oriented towards the east. It has a flat concentric plan, with a central sanctuary and two surrounded successively by an inner enclosure, ponds, and an outer enclosure. The ponds between the enclosures are an unusual feature of the temple, as is the central sanctuary, which is not elevated and has its towers arranged in rows of three and two. All the towers except the central one have been restored.

In a separate display there were a range of different warriors in glass display cabinets. Here we could see examples of the warriors at very close quarters. Each was in an individual glass cabinet, so we were able to walk around and view them from every angle. Here is one example, a high ranking officer.
I took a photo of the information beside each warrior and have copied this warrior's description below:-
This is one of seven "generals" found in the terra-cotta pits. The height, clothing and headgear of the officer all indicate his high rank. He wears double layered robes under a colourful fish-scaled armour, and a high headgear tied with ribbons under the chin. His shoes are with square opening and with upward bending tips. There are eight knots made of ribbons to decorate the armour, three knots on the front plate, three knots on the back and one knot each on the shoulder.

Shintou architectures are known to preserve original Japanese architectural traditions better than Buddhist architectures that were influenced by Korean and Chinese architectures. Although half-hidden by the walls, residences for the gods in the compound are constructed as stilt houses with a ladder. In this sense, they resemble the houses by the Yeak Laom Lake.
Architects point out that Japanese houses are designed to be well ventilated in order to be comfortable in humid summer by sacrificing protection against the cold in winter. In my opinion, it would be an influence of the Austroasiatic people, which came with the rice cultivation.
Rice cultivation in Japan started in Kyuushuu Island in the west around the 10th century B.C. and spread nationwide except for northern Honshuu and Hokkaidou by the 3rd century B.C., which roughly coincides with the period of Austroasiatic expansion. The style of earthen ware had drastically changed as rice cultivation spread.

Horn Castle is one of the oldest, still intact circular castles in the Netherlands. The castle probably dates from the 10th or 11th century and was originally in the hands of robber knights who obtained income by levying tolls on traffic on the busy Meuse river. The oldest mentioned ruler of the area around the village of Horn is Engelbert van Horn, son of Dirk van Horn. The castle is first mentioned in a letter from 1243.

Seeing what my new PC can do if I just play with EEP and have some patience. I usually snap one of these in less than 2 minutes then toss it up here but it's taking some time to find out what lighting works with PBR, so this was about 10 minutes in the chair.

Just beneath the ruins of Kexong Langjie Castle is an ancient meditation cave with murals approx. dating back to the 10th century or even older.
We were lucky to be allowed taking pictures. Of course, in order to protect the colours, we were not allowed to use flash. The photo-quality suffered using a high ISO in order to take a handheld photo in a cave without light (the only light came from the entrance).

I took a quick run up to Loch Laide in Abriachan to catch the golden morning light as it flooded over the shoulder of Carn na Leitire this morning.
A great excuse to get the drone out!
An interesting freak of nature. The water on the road is not cold enough to freeze yet when sprayed onto the adjacent hedge by passing traffic it has frozen creating an interesting ice sculpture, Stanton Dale, 10th February 2021.

A BC Rail C40-8M is the lead unit on BNSF train H-BRCKCK1-14A tied down on Main Track 1 of the NS Kansas City District-BNSF Brookfield Sub at Block 224 by 10th St. while NS train D70 with an Ex-BN SD60M on the point holds on Main Track 2 while waiting to be called down to the signal by the BNSF Ustick Disptatcher.
The H-BRCKCK1-14A arrived here at Block 224 not too long after 0600 after making an overnight run across the BNSF Brookfield Sub. The crew died here at 1230, and the train was never given a new crew until around midnight.
NS train D70 got here around 1400, and it wasn't around 1700 that the BNSF Ustick Dispatcher gave them permission to come down to the signal and head across the Hannibal Bridge. D70 is bringing autoracks across town from NS's Voltz Yard near Birmingham, MO to BNSF's Argentine Yard in Kansas City, KS, and it's using power off the BNSF transfer to NS's Avondale Yard from the previous night. 9/15/17.

I am standing at the north end of what is now part of the Radyr station car park, The last time I stood here was almost forty six years ago on the 8th July 1973 when instead of a couple of rows of cars behind me I would find two Class 37,s and four Class 08’s (see first comment below).
Banteay Srei or Banteay Srey is a 10th-century Cambodian temple dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. Located in the area of Angkor, it lies near the hill of Phnom Dei, 25 km (16 mi) north-east of the main group of temples that once belonged to the medieval capitals of Yasodharapura and Angkor Thom. Banteay Srei is built largely of red sandstone, a medium that lends itself to the elaborate decorative wall carvings which are still observable today. The buildings themselves are miniature in scale, unusually so when measured by the standards of Angkorian construction. These factors have made the temple extremely popular with tourists, and have led to its being widely praised as a "precious gem", or the "jewel of Khmer art."
The temple's modern name, Bantãy Srĕi—citadel of the women, or citadel of beauty—is probably related to the intricacy of the bas relief carvings found on the walls and the tiny dimensions of the buildings themselves. Some have speculated that it relates to the many devatas carved into the walls of the buildings. Apsaras, divine nymphs or celestial dancing girls, are characters from Indian mythology. Apsaras and devatas are ubiquitous at Angkor, but are most common in the foundations of the 12th century. Depictions of true (dancing) apsaras are found, for example, in the Hall of Dancers at Preah Khan, in the pillars that line the passageways through the outer gallery of the Bayon, and in the famous bas-relief of Angkor Watdepicting the churning of the Ocean of Milk.
Dvarapalas are human or demonic temple guardians, generally armed with lances and clubs. They are presented either as a stone statues or as relief carvings in the walls of temples and other buildings, generally close to entrances or passageways. Their function is to protect the temples.
