Culzean Castle was constructed as an L-plan castle by order of the 10th Earl of Cassilis. He instructed the architect Robert Adam to rebuild a previous, but more basic, structure into a fine country house to be the seat of his earldom. The castle was built in stages between 1777 and 1792. It incorporates a large drum tower with a circular saloon inside (which overlooks the sea), a grand oval staircase and a suite of well-appointed apartments.

In 1945, the Kennedy family gave the castle and its grounds to the National Trust for Scotland (thus avoiding inheritance tax). In doing so, they stipulated that the apartment at the top of the castle be given to General of the Army Dwight D. Eisenhower in recognition of his role as Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces in Europe during the Second World War. The General first visited Culzean Castle in 1946 and stayed there four times, including once while President of the United States.

10th June 2012 marks the end of Dalkeith Depot and offices. From the 11th June Lothian Buses will be stepping in take over some of the services that are to be cut across midlothian. RIP Dalkeith Depot - seriously just tap the building and that is all that is needed to make this building collapse. 05th June 2012.

Seeing what my new PC can do if I just play with EEP and have some patience. I usually snap one of these in less than 2 minutes then toss it up here but it's taking some time to find out what lighting works with PBR, so this was about 10 minutes in the chair.

10th August 2017:

I felt a lot better this morning but wasn't going to push my luck, so took my camera out into the garden first thing for an emergency photo.

Saw the Jackdaws on the chimney pots and tried for a shot. As I liked it, I've used it for today's photo.

I did manage a small trip over to the car park, but I wouldn't have wanted to go any further, I need a few more days to regain my strength.

Under the hazy gaze of the distant Cabinet Mountains, the Day Gas takes the junction switch onto MRL's 10th Sub. The joined-rail 10th Sub is the original Northern Pacific mainline, completed in 1883. Though since the completion of the cutoff through St Regis in 1909, the 10th has served as the alternate mainline between Paradise and Missoula although it still remains the normal routing for the gas locals.

Ellen, she showed me her Amnesty International card. "Can I ask you something? I speak to people and tell about the discrimination against homosexuals in countries in Eastern Europe. Do you want to sign a petition? ”. She said that she does this work as a student (she is studying the account manager training) and can thus collect some extra credits in Corona time. I was surprised that by collecting signatures you can also collect credits. It is an alternative to doing an internship. She was not alone, more students were active. I had to sign via her tablet, only that way she got credits. This is the 10th photo from my 3rd round of the 100strangers project.

Wish all my friends have happiness in this valentine day :)

My mom passed away on Valentine’s Day 10 years ago at the age of 71. We stopped for a short visit at the cemetery on this 10th anniversary of her passing. She always loved sending her children and grandchildren Valentine cards every year so I was inspired to make a big heart in the snow with my boots.

Lots of people liked my most recent upload from Michigan City, and that inspired me to go back and revisit some older night shots. Here's one from a damp December night, when a spontaneous trip to the city led to the most luck I've ever had trackside within an hour of being at one place.

A winter rendition of AF7 makes its way west down 10th Street, coming into the light of the streetlamp at the intersection with Willard Avenue. I uploaded this shot back then, but since uploading hated the way the edit came out. I MUCH prefer this version, hopefully you feel the same.
