Portrait - Carmel Highlands, CA
Yesterday we stopped off at the Photography West Gallery in Carmel to get directions to the famous Eucalyptus Tree, the one Ansel Adams took the portrait of Edward Weston back in 1945. I’ve been wanting to visit this photographer’s historical landmark for years. After finding the tree, I spoke with an elderly gentleman who lived in the Carmel Highlands neighborhood of the time Weston’s portrait was taken. I enjoyed listening to his stories. He told me the tree had been trimmed many times and looks quite different. After our chat I manually setup the exposure and handed the camera to my wife Beverley. It’s the first time she’s used a DSLR and she loves it. Not exactly the same pose as Edward, but it made me think how patiently he had to sit there while Ansel fiddled with his camera.

La Val Casies è una delle valli più suggestive dell'Alto Adige: con i suoi rifugi e rifugi, è un vero gioiello per i vacanzieri attivi.
La valle è incorniciata dalle pendici delle cime del Gruppo delle Vedrette di Ries e dai Monti Villgraten, in mezzo ai quali si trovano i famosi Rifugi Casies, gestiti sia d'inverno che d'estate. Lì vengono offerti i famosi e tradizionali piatti di speck "Speckbrettln" e le colazioni in rifugio, nel cuore delle montagne dell'Alto Adige.

A REGENERATING WALK
Val Casies is one of the most evocative valleys in South Tyrol: with its huts and shelters, it is a real gem for active vacationers.
The valley is framed by the slopes of the peaks of the Vedrette di Ries Group and by the Villgraten Mountains, in the midst of which are the famous Casies huts, managed both in winter and in summer. There, the famous and traditional "Speckbrettln" speck platters are offered, as well as the breakfasts in the alpine hut, in the heart of the South Tyrolean mountains.

Als gebürtiger Düsseldorfer hat es mich schon sehr früh in die Ferne gezogen. Frankfurt, München, Wien, Graz und seit 1999 wohnhaft in Jennersdorf, im wunderschönen Südburgenland.
Im ausgeübten Beruf als Werbegestalter und Grafiker (1966-1992) aber auch in der Selbständigkeit (bis 2012) ist die bildende Kunst immer allgegenwärtig gewesen.
Meine Leidenschaft sind Experimente mit verschiedenen Hilfsmitteln und Materialien wie zum Beispiel:
Kurzfilme mit und ohne Kamera - Kodak-Sofortbilder ganz ohne Kamera - Negativstreifen und Dias anders gesehen - PC-Fehler zur kreativen Weiterverarbeitung verwenden - Digitalfotografie und ihre Möglichkeiten mit einem Apple-Computer kombinieren und verfeinern - und bis heute noch vieles mehr entdecken...
