Está situado en la región de Lika, un paraje donde se alternan lagos, cascadas y manantiales de espectacular belleza. Esta región fue declarada Parque Nacional ya en 1949, y catalogada en el Patrimonio de la Humanidad de la Unesco en 1979, con una ampliación en 2000.
El parque tiene una superficie cercana a las 30.000 hectáreas, 22.000 de ellas cubiertas de bosques. La zona que se puede visitar se encuentra en el centro del parque, son 8 km² de valle poblado de bosques, donde la hidrografía ha conformado un paisaje formado por 16 lagos de diferente altitud comunicados por 92 cataratas y cascadas. La vegetación se compone en un 90% de hayas. La visita se realiza a pie a través de senderos y puentes de madera, los lagos más grandes son recorridos por silenciosas barcas. Este parque suscita también gran interés entre los turistas por los acontecimientos que tienen lugar allí, como por ejemplo, las bodas al pie de las cataratas. Este lugar fue candidato a ser una de las siete maravillas naturales del mundo en el 2011.

Mit einem Leerreisezug war die 1042.23 von Passau zur Zwischenabstellung unterwegs nach Schärding. Bei Wernstein konnte ich die Garnitur ablichten.
Seit einiger Zeit wird die 1042 007 der WRS regelmäßiger in der Schweiz eingesetzt als bei Inbetriebnahme der Lok bei der Firma. Ein dennoch spezieller Anblick war die österreichische Lok mit ihrem Kesselwagenzug aus Niederglatt, welcher bei Rheinsulz auf der Strecke Koblenz-Laufenburg erwartet wurde.
Einen Sonderzug aus Wien bespannte die 1042.23 bis nach Passau. Kurze Zeit später fuhr sie samt Garnitur zur Zwischenabstellung nach Schärding. Kurz nach Wernstein gelang ein erstes Foto.

Die sehr gepflegte 1042.23 schob dem Metrans Containerzug mit 386 023 an der Spitze am Semmering nach. Hier ein Bild aus Eichberg.
Spieglein, Spieglein ... 1042.023 mit SE 17156 von Wien FJB nach Melk spiegelt sich beim Fischteich kurz vor Kritzendorf.

Mainau es una isla de Alemania, localizada en el Lago de Constanza y más precisamente en la parte noroccidental conocida como lago de Überlingen (Überlinger See). La isla está conectada por el sur con la tierra firme mediante un puente.
Mainau se encuentra comprendida en el territorio comunal de la ciudad de Constanza y de hecho la mejor forma de llegar a la misma es por medio del transporte urbano de esta ciudad, que tiene una línea de autobús con parada en el acceso a la isla. Ésta es un importante destino turístico gracias a su suave clima, merced al cual alberga una vegetación muy rica en especies, incluso subtropicales y tropicales.
La entrada a la isla se hace previo pago, pero su cuidada vegetación, los millones de flores que la decoran (como es evidente, fundamentalmente en los meses de primavera y verano), sus invernaderos de palmas y de mariposas - en el cual estas sobrevuelan libremente a los visitantes y son de gran variedad y grandes tamaños -, su espacio con variados tipos de columpios complejos, y su pequeña zona con diferentes animales, junto a otros detalles, son de un interés objetivo.
De acuerdo con todo lo anterior, el lugar también es denominado La isla de las flores.
