Asteroid (1036) Ganymed is currently moving at a speed of more than one degree per day (some 3' per hour). The field of view is 2.1°×1.4°.
This is a stack of 272 30-second exposures taken once per minute between 2011-10-21 20:10 UT and 2011-10-22 00:53 UT (a period of 4.7 hours, which is how long the camera's double 1000-mAh battery lasts).
The imperfections in Ganymed's track are due to jitter (the telescope tends to shake a bit when the camera snaps a photo with the battery adapter attached) and, to a lesser extent, tracking errors (most frames have pin-point stars, but in others the stars show as tiny dashes). The errors average out in stacking for stars, but not for the moving asteroid.
