Once a year, on the seventh week after Easter pilgrims as well as many interested persons from various regions of Georgia come to the village Mleta (about 10 km south of Gudauri) to celebrate Lomisoba. This year Lomisoba took place on June 26.

People bring sheep and poultry with them for sacrificing, they walk up to the Mleta Mountain about 2000 m above sea level, where Saint George Church of Lomisa stands. There are many legends about Lomisa Church, but the one about the chain is exceptional. Church still keeps this very heavy chain from old times, claimed to be miraculous. A believer should put this chain on his shoulder and walk three times around the church and his wishes will come true, or maybe he will be cured if he is ill.

For the sake of legends and beliefs there are always many people during Lomisoba and people eagerly and harshly try to enter this tiny church on this very day.
