Uiteraard werd er ook weer op het Wiederline stel gewacht. Vanwege werkzaamheden bij station Groningen Europapark en bij het nieuwe opstelterrein De Vork, was er tevens zeer beperkt treinverkeer mogelijk op station Groningen. Het bijplaatsen van GTW's voor de ochtend en avondspits gebeurden daarom door Arriva in Leeuwarden.
Ook bij stel 302 werd een stel bijgeplaatst en dat was een ander Wiederline treinstel namelijk de 301. Dus zien we niet veel later het koppel het plaatsje Feanwâlden passeren op weg naar Leeuwarden.

One of the cool features of the G1 Optimus Prime toy was the mechanism for launching Roller from the Combat Deck. I felt my LEGO version wouldn't be complete without that.

This is an extensively delayed project that got a final go when the rumours of the upcoming 10302 started to circulate on the LEGO underground community. I wanted to post some pictures of my MOC before the official announcement of the set... but the delay on the Bricklink orders with the parts I was missing didn't made it possible.

Getting source material from 1980's cartoons is a total nightmare! In one scene you will have a specific element in silver... on the next scene that element is gone... and on the next scene that same element is back but it's red.

Fallen Optimus Diorama MOC
This is my latest Lego creation inspired by the diorama “Optimus, The Last Battle” by @gundamike.
When I first saw his diorama, I was baffled by the originality and the skills of this Michael Visser 😍.
Originally, I was planning to make this diorama with the Lego 10302 set, but I later changed this due to unforeseen difficulties.
It was too complex to have working knees and the fact the set is very “sturdy”, it was not easy to weather and mod 😕.
After looking for alternatives, I found the alt build by @ransom_fern. I was able to mod his version, so it would fit the setup I had in mind.
At the end, I decided to also abandon the trees and rocks, as I was past my “3 months span of focus”. This is the moment, when I often loose interest and want to build something new 😉.
Anyway, seeing spring had started and Easter was coming, I decided on a flower bed with white and pink blossoms 🌼.

Voor de passage van de 2200 werd ook nog even het standaard passagiersvervoer meegeklikt. Doordat de stellen voor de oorspronkelijke dienst naar Leer vollopig nog niet de stad kunnen bereiken, worden de de stellen ook op andere trajecten ingezet. Zo zijn de stellen met de vlaggen op de zijkant ook op de andere lijnen in het noorden van het land te bewonderen, waaronder dus de lijn naar Veendam.
Hier rijdt de 10302 als stoptrein in de richting van Veendam en passeert de overweg aan de duurkenakker in Muntendam. Aan de stellen te zien zijn ze erg aan een likje verf toe. :-)

I'm a big fan of LEGO's set 10302 "Optimus Prime". It looks great as a robot and decent as a truck and the transformation works really well. The one thing that could make it even better, in my book, was for Optimus to have the trailer, also known as the Combat Deck. So, obviously, I built my own. I haven't had much time in the last two months or so and this is a substantial model, but it's done.
This is a scan of an original kodachrome slide. It was scanned with an Epson Pro V750, and finished up with very minor post processing work in Photoshop.
The original comes from my own slide collection, which contains both my own photos and those acquired over the past forty or so years collecting.
The uploading of the material in this Flickr collection is just for the purpose of sharing the pictures with people who may find them of interest. Comments are welcomed.

The trailer on the toy had two legs that could swing out when the trailer is opened and could swing forward to support the trailer when not attached to the tractor. All of that works on my model too.

De ARRIVA 10302 met trein 20111 onderweg van Weener (D) naar Groningen ter hoogte van Winschoten. (13-06-2021)
On the toy, the trailer was pretty big compared to the tractor unit. I don't actually own the toy, but I worked out the approximate scale from pictures. It's more than 60 studs long and it is 16 studs wide.
The 498 is one of a number of routes that cross Romford town centre to serve Queens Hospital. Stagecoach London 10302, an ADL E40D MMC.

My Combat Deck is modelled fairly closely after the original G1 Optimus Prime toy. That toy was a licensed version of toy produced in Japan, called Diaclone Battle Convoy. Diaclone was a range of vehicles that could transform into mecha and that included small action figures. That is why the chest of the truck could be opened and why Roller, the small car housed in the Combat Deck had seats and the Combat Deck itself had a few control stations and a sort of cockpit. On the Transformers toy, none of those things made much sense, but it did have them and so does my LEGO version. On the toy, the patterns on inside of the Combat Deck were stickers. Since I didn't want to use stickers on my model, I built them using mostly plates and tiles and adding a little texture. I know it might not necessarily be pretty, but I like it. It's fun.
Vrij bijzonder was vandaag de inzet van maarliefst twee Wiederline-stellen op het baanvak Leeuwarden-Groningen. Van de in totaal vijf omlopen op zondag reden er dus twee met een vlaggenstel. Zeker voor een zondag waarin zowel de sneltrein als stoptrein maar één keer per uur rijden is een inzet van 40% erg hoog te noemen, want normaal rijden deze stellen hoofdzakelijk tussen Groningen en Nieuweschans. De 10302 is zojuist vertrokken uit Leeuwarden als trein 37445 naar Groningen op de natte en waterkoude zondag 14 februari 2016.
