With the shutdown of the last coal fired block at the Novaky powerplant in 2023 december, the Vojany plant remains the final operational coal fired powerplant in Slovakia.
The coal arrives there through the broad-gauge Line 102A, specifically built to supply the then freshly opened plant and the iron works near Košice with raw material from the Soviet Union.
Even though some borders and country-names have changed since, the substance remains unchanged: coal from the east travels on the Å RT with the help of trains up to the Vojany plant.
In this image 771.806 is seen near Veľké Kapušany at the overpass of the standard-gauge line, heading towards the power plant.
An aircraft former US President Geroge W. Bush flew twice while in the Texas Air National Guard. USAF Convair TF-102A Delta Dagger 56-2337 is seen at Fort Worth Aviation Museum in Texas.
The Convair F-102A was designed to intercept and destroy enemy bombers. The Delta Dagger became the world's first supersonic all-weather jet interceptor and the US Air Force's first operational delta-wing aircraft.
During a combat mission, electronic equipment on board the F-102 located enemy aircraft and the onboard radar guided the F-102 into an attack position. At the proper moment, the electronic fire control system automatically fired the interceptor's air-to-air rockets and missiles.
The F-102A shown here served with the 57th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron in Iceland, where in became one of the first USAF aircraft to intercept and escort a Soviet "Bear" bomber over the Arctic.
The F-102 was later used to develop the upgraded F-106 Delta Dart.
