Lamae: This almost reminds me of ancient Ayleid art, but far more detailed.

Mary: Because not much is left of their culture. This would be the house of King Morimath.

Lizzy: Was it some kind of death cult?

Two Westerns sitting quietly inside Old Oak Common depot in the early hours.

The staff at Old Oak were very generous and allowed us to roam and take pictures wherever we wanted.

It took a bit of tactful pleading as they said there would be plenty of chance during the day. The pleading was that the crowds would be out in numbers, so they relented.

They even opened the depot doors to make it possible to get a better view.

I think it was about 4am so possibly anyone sane was asleep or still making their way to London for the last Western run under BR rule.

I am convinced at least one of us was using a tripod to get the images which we probably left in the car while travelling on the sad farewell tour.

The paintwork has an unusual lustre although it could be down to the unusual lighting conditions.

The presence of fire extinguishers is evident, although not the usual red variety.

It is all different round here now. HS2 has helped see to that change.
