V posledním období ZSSK Cargo aplikuje na své lokomotivy řady 131 reklamní nátěr ZSSK Cargo. Vyjímku dostala dvojice lokomotiv E479.1002 + 1001, která obdržela retro nátěr k výročí 40. let provozu této řady na Slovensku. Ještě novotou vonící lokomotivy se mi podařilo vyfotit na postrku nedaleko Štrby - zastávky

Yesterday's shot of a waterfall is perhaps the highlight of Mystic Beach, but the entire shoreline is magical. Once again, the interaction between water and rock intrigued me on this visit. I've photographed this rock, worn smooth by the incessant waves and tidal action, many times.
It's always exciting to use a slow shutter on moving water; there's no way to predict exactly how the motion will look. And here I had to set up my tripod on sand, try to time it right, and leap back before the water hit my boots. Wet feet are not the worst outcome to put up with - but it was February, not exactly warm, with a long hike back to the car in soggy boots and socks. So, quick like a cat, I was able to stay dry. Of several exposures, I liked this best.
Looking out to Juan de Fuca Strait, there wasn't much colour. It was mostly a dull blue-grey; the original RAW file really isn't very impressive. Therefore I tried a monochrome conversion, then converted back to RGB and added a blue wash using Photoshop filters. Much better! The image is not about colour anyway, but rather, shapes and textures and directional forces.

A Port of Montreal switcher (PDMX 1002) is heading west after dropping off cars for CN. Behind it is the Sailor's Memorial Clock, completed in 1922 and dedicated to seamen who passed away during World War I.

Another look at this newly rebuilt unit since everyone seemed interested in my earlier post.
Newly rebuilt RSTX 1002 is coupled to two coaches for testing sitting on track Back 1 outside on the west end of the Back Shop at the MBTA's Commuter Rail Maintenance Facility more commonly known as Boston Engine Terminal which is what the original Boston and Maine facility was called. Modern BET opened in 1998 replacing the roundhouse dating from B&M's massive 1926-1932 reconfiguration of the terminal complex that included both the new Boston Engine Terminal and Boston Garden / North Station.
This locomotive, designated an F40PH-4C was a frame up rebuild performed at MEI in St. Louis under contract by this new Boston based startup in conjunction with their partner CAD Railway Industries. This particular unit was most recently LTEX 34 and was orginally Amtrak F40PH number 294 built by EMD in Jun. 1979.
The company is in the process of remanufacturing 10 units and the MBTA /Keolis have committed to lease and operate six of them initially with an option for more at a later date. You can read more at the company's site here:

Still in the testing and acceptance phase this unit should be hitting the rails of the commonwealth in revenue service soon.
