Assateague Lighthouse, 142-foot-tall (43 m), is on the southern end of Assateague Island in Virginia portion.
Located within the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge owned by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and operated by the U.S. Coast Guard and is still used as an active aid in navigation.
The original lighthouse was constructed in 1833 at a cost of ~ $55,000. In 1860, construction on a taller, more powerfully illuminated brick lighthouse began, but was delayed by the Civil War. After the war, work resumed and the lighthouse was completed in 1867.
The lighthouse is conical in shape and is painted in alternating bands of red and white.
A $1.5 million renovation was completed in October 2013.
What does it even mean to be 1.5 billion years old? Carbon dating has confirmed the rocks at Cameron Falls to be Precambrian, at that age. To think of that much time is just mind blowing. Can you imagine finding some kind of fossilized life in the stones? How incredible would that be?!

I bought this lens because of the strange oval bokeh it can produce. I seldom managed to get it, though. This is one of the few examples I shot where I did get the oval looking bokeh.

What about this for a find! Just 7 of these currently on the roads, this one has been off the road since 2007 but it has recently sold on www.carandclassic.co.uk for £650 so l assume it will be on the road again!

岡山後楽園

Wikipedia: "Kōraku-en (後楽園, Kōrakuen) is a Japanese garden located in Okayama, Okayama Prefecture. It is one of the Three Great Gardens of Japan, along with Kenroku-en and Kairaku-en. Korakuen was built in 1700 by Ikeda Tsunamasa, lord of Okayama. The garden reached its modern form in 1863."
