Heute morgen war ich schon früh wach. In den ersten Minuten hatte die Sonne noch nicht die Kraft um durch den Nebel zu kommen, aber so nach 5 Minuten war es dann soweit.

What does it even mean to be 1.5 billion years old? Carbon dating has confirmed the rocks at Cameron Falls to be Precambrian, at that age. To think of that much time is just mind blowing. Can you imagine finding some kind of fossilized life in the stones? How incredible would that be?!

This is just one half of a divisible zipper, I rolled it up and I like how it looks now :)
This is about 1,5 inch wide.
Happy Macro Monday.

The spring, named for one of the area’s early families, provides benches for sitting and sipping the delicious cool mountain water; the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources defines a spring as “a place where groundwater flows naturally from rock or soil onto the land surface or into a body of water”

Sit and sip and fill up with fresh flowing cold spring water.

Wrapping up my final astro adventure of 2024 under the stunning skies of Harvey. Took a 1.5-hour drive south of Perth to scout around Harvey Dam, armed with a few planned shots in mind. Arrived just before twilight to set up, and by 10:30 PM, I was already heading back home—mission (mostly) accomplished.
The wind was relentless that night, and while the tall trees offered some shelter, the dream of capturing those perfect sky reflections on the water? Gone with the breeze. Not everything went to plan, but hey, that’s the beauty of nightscape photography—always keeping you on your toes!

The Summarit 1.5/50 of 1956 is an "enfant terrible" in the Leica lens assortment -- the predecessor of the original 1959 Summilux 1.4/50 -- rushed out into the market in 1954 to compete with Zeiss' Sonnar 1.4/50.
The Summarit 1.5/50 is a coated version of Voigtländer's Xenon 1.5/50 produced since 1935/36, what means that its design is really old, and -- according to many -- flawed.
Erwin Puts describes the performance of this lens at full aperture as being "barely acceptable for the intended use", and adds that "stopping down improves the image quality very reluctantly", and finally that "stopping down improves contrast and after f/5.6 we see a quite good image quality that invites some sympathy, but not equal to the contemporary lenses of lower speed".
In a world of lenses of a superb quality, the Summarit produces unique images, which you'll either love or hate. Personally I think that it can produce very interesting images with a flawed flavour which we would call retro.
This image was edited also under Analog Efex Pro in the attempt to achieve an Acros 100 look.
