I live on the Nature Coast of Florida, and for a few weeks my life was dominated by Hurricane Irma. My people all came through without damage to bodies or homes, and we are tremendously grateful! In 30+ years here I have been through a bunch of these storms, they each have their own personality, but all are quite scary experiences. They also all have five basic phases: 1-Notification 2-Preparation 3-Endurance 4-Evaluation 5-Recovery. I decided to use these 5 phases as my inspiration for this assignment.
Der Berliner Funkturm ist ein von 1924 bis 1926 von Heinrich Straumer in Berlin erbauter Sendeturm. Am 3. September 1926 wurde er anlässlich der Dritten Großen Deutschen Funkausstellung eröffnet. Heute steht er unter Denkmalschutz. Er wurde im Dezember 2007 für die Auszeichnung als Historisches Wahrzeichen der Ingenieurbaukunst in Deutschland nominiert.
Der Funkturm befindet sich auf dem Areal des Berliner Messegeländes im Bezirk Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf. Er ist ein bekanntes Wahrzeichen der Stadt, allerdings ist der Berliner Fernsehturm in Mitte mehr als doppelt so hoch. Im Berliner Volksmund ist teilweise auch die scherzhafte Bezeichnung „Langer Lulatsch“ geläufig.
Betreiber und Eigentümer der Anlage ist die Deutsche Funkturm (DFMG), ein Tochterunternehmen der Deutschen Telekom mit Sitz in Münster.
