Pictured here sunset over the tidal pools of Pointe-au-Père part of Rimouski since 2002 but has had a long history as a place in its own right just downstream from the city since Dec 08 1663 when a Jesuit Father Henri Nouvel first celebrated mass near the area.

The name means Father Point in English but could have easily been renamed to Pilot Point given the prosperous trade of piloting ocean going vessels up the notoriously difficult sailing river from this area.

As early as 1805 they had an official pilot station set up on an island about 3 miles upstream from Pointe-au-Père but the fantastic view from that the area jutting out into the St Lawrence allowed unofficial pilots first chance to sight the vessels and row out to the ships and offer their piloting services.

No doubt after long days of nail biting sailing, captains navigating the river to this point were ready to have a river pilot take over and the unofficial became the official piloting station in very short order.

I took this on Sept 20th, 2020 with my D750 and Nikon 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens at 42mm 1/200 sec f/5.6 ISO800 processed in LR, PS +Lumenzia, Topaz , Luminar and DXO

One from an ongoing project combining many of my favourite photographic subjects and techniques: up north in the Highlands, take a walk in the woods, appreciate the shapes of trees and other woodland flora, abstract shapes and lines, light (or not), shadows and silhouettes (maybe), all made with a simple prime lens shot wide open (or thereabouts).

Prints, masks and other things are available via the website: Woodland 1.

Been playing around with more splash photography, had a few good ones this morning. I used a narrow aperture which meant that I managed to keep everything in focus properly, and a shutter speed of 1/200sec.

The hunger is insatiable, but then again, isn't it always? If I wasn't starving today, I would probably be starving tomorrow anyways, so what's the point in even holding back?

"No!"

I shudder and cast aside the bloodlust. I made myself a promise, I made her a promise. They all counted on me, and I won't let down anyone else. "Just one more night." I tell myself. "Just one more night and you'll quench the unquenchable thirst." At least Spider-Man was someone who kept his promises. I haven't fed in nearly two months, too long for any man, or monster. Ever since the incident I've been trying to go straight, depending on the wall crawler's blood instead of mortal blood.

That's when I hear it. My vampiric senses pick up a scream on the corner of 12th street. It would seem as though duty calls once again. I stand up and leap off of the rooftop and soar through the streets and land atop a warehouse next to the alley on 12th street. As I look down I can see three bodies, two men and a woman. She's hurt, and bleeding. The smell is INTOXICATING. I can feel my body tingle with just the thought of fresh blood. But I can't. She's an innocent.

But they aren't.

I silently jump down and land behind them. Both armed, and rugged. Probably think they're hot shit too. Just wait till I get my hands on them.

"Shit there's somebody here!" Shouts one thug. "Hey you! What the hell are you doing out here?"

"No witnesses man get him!"

Shit. No time for the usual act. I could use my powers to hypnotize them. Or at least I should have done that when I look back at it. But all the blood. I can barley think straight. It's driving me crazy. One of the street thugs swings at me with his golf club. I catch it instantly with my left hand.

"Big mistake." I smirk as my fangs come out. I rip the club from his meaty hands a snap it like a twig in my hand. I dash at him a grab him by the throat, ripping out his throat, and tossing his carcass to the side. I throw the entrails on the ground and make sure to step I them as I make my way to the girl.

The next thug swings at me with his bat, which I dodge with ease. I grab him by the arm and head but him, knocking the bat from his grasp. Out of the corner of my eye I see his hand reach back to grab what was likely a hidden knife in his back pocket. The sly bastard. If he thinks he can cut me so easily, let's see how easily I can cut him. And I can vouch for the fact that a man's hand can be ripped off with extreme ease.

The man screams In agony, blood spurting everywhere as he writhes around on the floor. The blood. I can practically taste it now. It's so close. It's all I can see. Blood everywhere. And I want it. I NEED IT. I walk over to the man and lift up his body as he begs for mercy.

"Mercy? Where you're going, no mercy will save you," Some say a woman's pleasure is euphoric. But they must have never tasted fresh blood setting them free after an eternity of starvation. I sink my teeth into his jugular, draining his entire body of all life. Of all of his sweet, sweet blood.

It takes less than a two minutes for the thug to shrivel up into a pale cold shell of a man. I feel relief and ecstasy flowing through me, but the hunger is still there. It was then that I noticed the girl in the corner of the alley. She was beaten badly. Just at first glance I would have diagnosed her with a ruptured kidney, four broken ribs, a fractured fibula and femur, as well as a possibly broken spine. But I didn't see this at first glance. I saw blood. She whimpered as I drew nearer begging for help. Blood dripped down my chin as I stared at her bloody chest. "It'll be a mercy killing," I tell myself at first. But the closer I get, the less I care. She's gonna die anyways, why not get something out of it for myself. I lean in now, fangs bared, and ready to dine on the sweet nectar flowing through her veins.

I'm not hungry anymore. Not today at least.

Rather long I know, but I got really into it. Here is my application for Elseworld Morbius!! Monsterous demon turned hero, Morbius lives in a constant struggle, attempting to right the wrongs of his past and not slip back into his evil ways. He is an anti hero who could sacrifice his life to save a child, and then go right off the deep end at any time. He will be very interesting to do. Lots of mythological type things will come hopefully. Not sure how well I'll be able to keep up a good series but I'll keep trying!
