Thomas Forester started a small pottery business at the Church Street works, Longton in 1877. His business thrived and in 1879 he knocked down the old potbank which had stood for over 100 years, at the same time purchasing the two adjacent works. He built a large new factory of over 40,000 sq ft. which was completed within two years, naming it the Phoenix Works. In 1881 Forester received the largest order ever for Staffordshire majolica-ware of 8,000 pieces, from the United States. By the end of the century Thos. Forester and Sons Ltd. employed 700 people. When Thomas died in 1907 the business was successfully continued by his descendants until after the Second World War but then majolica-ware fell out of fashion and the Clean Air Act of 1956 prevented the use of the enormous coal fired bottle ovens; without the profitability necessary to convert to electric or gas fired kilns the Company ceased production in 1959. There were originally six (very unusual) downdraught bottle ovens but only these two with their connected chimney remain and are Grade II listed, as is the whole site. In 1961 the Phoenix Works was purchased by the Milner family for their wholesale pottery business and Mark Milner, the latest generation has embarked on a major renovation scheme to provide space to different enterprises. One of which is the excellent Glost House Café where my brother, visiting from Canada and I enjoyed a very good lunch of traditional Staffordshire oatcakes just this week! Alpha Mountain is a 2,302-metre (7,552-foot) summit located in the Tantalus Range, in Tantalus Provincial Park, in southwestern British Columbia, Canada. It is situated 14 km (9 mi) northwest of Squamish, and 4.6 km (3 mi) southeast of Mount Tantalus, which is the highest peak in the Tantalus Range. Its nearest higher peak is Serratus Mountain, 1.9 km (1 mi) to the west. The Serratus Glacier lies to the west of Alpha, unnamed glaciers lie on the northern and eastern slopes, and Lake Lovely Water lies below the south slope. Precipitation runoff from the peak drains into tributaries of the Squamish River.

Maybe not the most obvious to photograph, but this Stick which once have been a small Tree, it was "looking" at me as if it want to tell me a story and there was a tiny weak Sunbeam, lightning it up a bit. I used aperture 2.0, so it could be more separated from the background. Nice to meet you Stick.

Rus.: Вторая встреча с Сатурном
Сатурн... ну, прям как девушка: на первом свидании не позволил подобраться ближе ;-)
Я, конечно, не удержался от попытки сделать фото, но ничего из той попытки не вышло.
Зато по итогам первой встречи рассчитал максимальную продолжительность видеоролика для своего оборудования. Оказалось, что Сатурн с моим оборудованием готов позволить ок. 2 минут видеоролика: Сатурн не так "вертляв", как Юпитер, - оборачивается вокруг своей оси за 10.5 часов против 9 часов Юпитера и угловой размер его диска меньше - отсюда разница в продолжительности роликов почти двукратная.
Тем не менее, эту шуструю планету, как и Юпитер, лучше снимать с максимальной частотой кадров сравнительно короткими сессиями (пока не успевает заметно повернуться).
Ко второй встрече с Сатурном подготовился лучше и, улучив погоду, предпринял попытку в ночь с 17 на 18 июля. На этот раз чуть более удачно ;-)
Для "шустрых" (быстро вращающихся) планет выбираю режим съёмки видео. Позже обрабатываю с выбором наилучших кадров и их суммированием в соответствующих программах. Несколько разных видеороликов помогает складывать программа WinJupos - она суммирует ролики за разное время с учётом вращения планеты, так получается накопить больше кадров, чем позволяет лимит одиночного ролика (см.выше об этом лимите).
Чтобы попытаться заполучить цвет, решил сделать ещё 5 обычных фото в RAW-формате (возможно, немного ошибся при совмещении слоёв видео и фото).
Зато так удалось приблизиться к тому, что видел в окуляре (а видел лучше, чем удалось передать на фото).
Буду ждать новой встречи с этой очень красивой планетой ;-)
