This is Jon.
Self-confessed 'grumpy middle-aged man', Jon is a painter and decorator from Oxford. I chatted to him outside the John Radcliffe hospital where he was having a cigarette break. He seemed really interested in the 100 Strangers project too. Very enthusiastic and not in the least bit grumpy at all. He was more than happy to pose for me before getting back into the hospital, to decorate something I presume.
An interesting fact about Jon? He's actually a trained potter. I bet you never knew that.
This picture is #07 in my 100 strangers project. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the 100 Strangers Flickr Group page.

heading down the coast today on a breezy but sunny, bright day, stopped briefly at Longniddry Bents to let friend's dog have a wee walk to hold him till we got further down the coast, as we came down onto the beach we saw these two horses being exercised in the surf. The bents has a very slow slope to the beach so it is quite shallow for a good bit out, perfect for paddling for humans or horses.
Talking to the lady rider she explained to me that the horse which was being lead around had a leg injury recently and the salt water was good for keeping the wound cleaned out, so they were walking him through the shallows. Her own horse was certainly enjoying it, pawing at the water with his hooves to kick up more spray. What a lovely sight to just come across, two magnificent horses in the water on the banks of the mighty Firth of Forth

(Stranger #07 : CHRIS) Day 80: 100 Days of Spring
I went to Weatherstone cafe to, again, try and get another stranger to shoot. The last time i was there, i hang out for more than an hour but went home with nothing XD
When i walked in the courtyard of the cafe, the first person i saw was Chris. Wanting to be social to everybody, i nodded at him when he looked up and he nodded back in acknowledgement, and i thought that was a good start.
I looked around and there were the usual chess crowd and people engaged in small talks over cigarette and coffee, nothin and nobody too striking to stand out among the crowd, except for 2 people.
The first one was this really hot chick watching over a chess game...
... with the long big arm of her boyfriend wrapped around her, lol
So scratch stranger potential #1 :p
Stranger potential #2 was this young man who I thought was really cool for 3 things.
a.) he had this really interesting classic style english moustache and he was wearing b.) a cool brown hat, almost exuding a Jason Mraz vibe in him, but instead of an acoustic guitar, he had this c.) sketchbook/planner/notebook that he was sketching and writing notes on, and i think i saw some drawings in there too, im not really sure.
He was too interesting of a subject for me to let go, so without hesitation and determined not to go home empty handed, i walked over to him and introduced myself and what i wanted to do. 10 minutes later, i was outside the cafe taking Chris' portrait =) Yeyy!!!
Chris, as it turned out, is an independent producer working for PBS here in Sacramento.
He is currently working on a project/documentary about baseball in China.
He says its nothing as big as baseball in japan but its starting to get really popular over there.
We talked for a few more minutes and exchanged cards.
If he gets the chance to see this project and his portrait of him, i want to say Thank you Chris for letting me take your portrait and for being so patient while i was fumblin around with my camera and lens, almost to the point of panicking, lol, trying to figure out why my pictures were coming out really dark. Turns out, i had the exposure compensation all the way down (i shoot Aperture priority 90% of the time), lol, and i have no idea how or why it was set like that.
NOTE TO SELF: check all my camera settings BEFORE taking the next portrait shots of my strangers: lol XD
Chris is my 7th stranger for the 100 Strangers Project.

A quick spread at the pub adjacent to Blickling Hall before tucking into my lasagne lunch. Very good food here!

you need more open space so we're pulling down your home. but sunlight and fresh air were public health issues, especially for poor children.
