Le lac de Vallon se trouve en Haute-Savoie, à 1 080 mètres d'altitude, sur la commune de Bellevaux, dans le département Haute-Savoie, sur le Brevon, un affluent de la Dranse qui se jette dans le lac Léman.

Red-Headed Woodpecker.
A 10 inch long bird. Whole head is red, wings and tail bluish-black which a large white patch on each wing, white underparts and white rump. It is conspicuous in flight. Immature resembles adult but has a brown head, 2 dark bars on white ring patch.
Their habitat consists of open-county, farms, rural roads, open park-like woodland, and golf-courses.
They range from Saskatchewan to Quebec in Canada south to the Gulf Coast and Florida. They are scarce in the northeastern U.S. states. They winter mainly in the southern part of their range.

The Abbey Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, commonly known as Bath Abbey, is a parish church of the Church of England and former Benedictine monastery in Bath, Somerset, England. Founded in the 7th century, it was reorganised in the 10th century and rebuilt in the 12th and 16th centuries; major restoration work was carried out by Sir George Gilbert Scott in the 1860s. It is one of the largest examples of Perpendicular Gothic architecture in the West Country. The medieval abbey church served as a sometime cathedral of a bishop. After long contention between churchmen in Bath and Wells the seat of the Diocese of Bath and Wells was later consolidated at Wells Cathedral. The Benedictine community was dissolved in 1539 during the Dissolution of the Monasteries.

Retour dans un coin visité l'année aupparavent, dans la région de Kiruna.
En ce jour une grande majorité du lac est affecté par un blizzard. Nous nous sommes alors rendu au bord de ce blizzard bloqué par les montagnes nous lâchant certaines salves bien costaudes.
La température était de -19°c en ressenti avec un vent allant de 70-80km/h. Le paysage était magnifique sous ce ciel dégagé mais dont le souffle apportait une énorme quantité de neige ce qui rendait la visibilité vraiment très réduite ! Nous avons vécu cette expérience de white out de près et ce sans danger !
Back in a region I really enjoy, where I had already been in 2024, in the Abisko area. On this day, a large part of the lake was hit by a blizzard. We went to the edge of this blizzard, which was blocked by the mountains, sending us some pretty strong bursts. The wind chill was –19°C, with winds reaching 70–80 km/h.
The landscape was gorgeous under the clear sky, but the wind carried huge amounts of snow, which made visibility extremely limited! We experienced this whiteout up close all while staying safely sheltered!
Voor ik in de file aansloot werd onderweg naar huis nog even een korte stop in Portengen gemaakt om de 1828 met ketels te fotografen.
Een melding dat RFO onderweg was met zes Laude containerwagens bracht me naar Udenhout. De set was namelijk onderweg vanuit Amersfoort naar Oss maar moest om daar te komen op Tilburg Goederen kopmaken. Tien minuten sneller dan verwacht passeert het treintje de fotografen.
Net als voor vele andere hobbyisten was vandaag de European Sleeper het belangrijkste doelwit. Voor mij was vandaag de enige mogelijkheid om de trein te fotograferen en net als vorige week waren de omstandigheden prima. Keurig op tijd passeert de Certus 2731 met de door TCS in Roosendaal aangebrachte ES uit Innsbruck (At) op weg naar België. Kort na deze passage strandde de trein echter in Essen (B) en liep alsnog 4 uur vertraging op...
