Am nebligen und tristen 09.02.89 rollt die 244 048 mit einem Güterzug von Gaschwitz Richtung Wahren durch Leipzig-Lindenau.
Die Mulde führt Eis, als am 04.02.89 eine 243 mit ihrer Dosto-Garnitur von Leipzig in Kürze den Bahnhof von Wurzen erreichen wird.
Der 09.02.89 war ein trüber, nebliger Wintertag, und wir wollten ursprünglich in Leipzig ein paar Altbauelloks erwischen. Die reine Anwesenheit ließ uns auf alles drauhalten, was in beiden Richtungen in Leipzig-Lindenau vorbeikam. So auch auf die 242 046, die hier mit ihrer typischen Reichsbahn-Fuhre knarzend an uns vorbeizog. Man beachte u.a. den herrlichen Braunkohlenstaubwagen im Zugverband.

Railfreight grey livery 37898 passes Trainload Freight grey 37285, stabled on Cardiff Canton Depot, with a rake of vacuum braked 21T MDV wagons on 20/02/89. There were approx 14,000 of these built originally but most had been withdrawn with the surviving ones in South Wales, so I was pleased to get this.

31407 arrives at Westbury with a nuclear flask working to Winfrith on a wet 13/02/89.
Built 1960 as D5640, becoming 31407, a member of the 'white stripe' Finsbury Park ETH fitted fleet. its claim to fame being the only class 31 to get Mainline Freight blue livery in 1994 before being withdrawn in 1998 and finally scrapped in 2006.

33 118 gets into its stride as it departs Redhill station goods loop after running round with freight 7Y44 the 13.26 Tonbridge West Yard to Woking Up Yard. The consist being YCV 'Turbot' ballast spoil wagons that would have been unloaded at Godstone Landfill tip earlier in the day.
RAF Alconbury. the 95thRS had only a less than ten year span of operation at Alconbury and in that time I shot examples in excess of 50 times which is relatively low considering it was my local base. The 17thRW was disestablished on 30-06-91 but the component squadron, 95thRS, remained until 15-09-93 albeit without aircraft hosting jets from the home wing at Beale as and when necessary. Former St.Blazey pet 37207, with its 'Cornish Railways' branding and 'William Cookworthy' nameplates removed, runs through Newport with a long rake of ZFV 'dogfish' ballast hoppers in tow on 20/02/89. Note the odd size buffers. Withdrawn in 1996, Preserved at The Plym Valley Railway, now owned by Colas Rail and being restored for mainline use again after over 20 years by HNRC.
