La Chasse à L'Ours.... Au cœur des murailles du Fort Lagarde, trois garçons, revêtus d’une peau de mouton, s’enduisent le visage et les bras d’huile mélangée à du noir de fumée. Escortés de leurs chasseurs, les « ours » descendent dans la ville, se jettent derrière la foule et marquent de leur empreinte tous ceux qui se trouvent à leur portée avec une préférence marquée pour les jeunes filles... En fin de journée, les barbiers, tout de blanc vêtus, les enchaînent au prix d’une lutte féroce et procèdent à un rasage symbolique redonnant ainsi forme humaine à ces êtres sauvages, héritiers des croyances et des légendes pyrénéennes.... Enlevez la peau de l'Ours vous trouverez l'homme..! Chacun aura sur le visage l’empreinte du plantigrade et celle d’une des plus anciennes traditions carnavalesques.
Festival Bear in Prats de Mollo
The Bear Hunt .... At the heart of the walls of Fort Lagarde, three boys, dressed in a sheepskin coat their face and arms with oil mixed with black. Escorted by their hunters, "bear" down in the city, threw themselves behind the crowd and make their mark all those who are within their reach with a marked preference for the girls ... At the end of the day, barbers , all dressed in white, chain them to the price of a fierce struggle and carry out a symbolic shaving and restoring human form these wild beings, heirs of beliefs and legends of the Pyrenees .... Remove the skin of the bear you will find man ..! Everyone will have to face the plantigrade footprint and that of one of the oldest carnival traditions.
