Chris Cuthill changes the screen on 846 to show Part Route in pink and we're at the Muirhouse terminus on Pennywell Road demonstrating some of the different LED screens on Lothian's Gemini B9, number 846.
There has been much talk in recent years as to what would happen if Lothian converted their screens to LED. In the Spring of 2010 fourteen state-of-the-art Airlink buses with a branding Blue Sky Thinking arrived in Edinburgh at a cost of £200,000 per bus. A rear, digital LED screen appeared and not too much was made of this as the same thing had happened to 846 on her rear-end in July 2009. Quite suddenly the talk started and many became worried that LB was about to follow other companies in introducing full frontal electronic screens.
However, on seeing Gemini 846 for the first time I was pleasantly surprised. The lettering is small and the type-face not unattractive, it's a creamy white colour and I feel this doesn't detract from the overall appearance of the bus. In my view, it is by far the best example I have seen of an LED screen in Britain.

Info (SP): Tras mas de dos años sin traer nuevos vehiculos a su flota, Guaguas Municipales alegro a sus usuarios con la llegada de quince unidades Mild Hybrid de la inmensamente popular Solaris Urbino. En 2016 ya trajeron nueve unidades de la misma pero, a diferencia de la tecnologia Mild Hybrid, estas quince nuevas trajeron consigo aun mas novedades. Para empezar es de descatar que estos vehiculos portan cuatro puertas en lugar de tres, asi como un interesante y nuevo diseño corporativo. La unica pena que trae la llegada de estas, es que hemos tenido que despedir las cinco Van Hool NewAG300.
Info (EN): After over two years of not bringing a single new vehicle, Guaguas Municipales surprised all their users with the arrival of fifteen Solaris Urbino Mild Hybrid articulated buses. In 2016 they already purchased nine of these vehicles but, besides the Mild hybrid technology, these new buses brought with them a few interesting additions. Firstly, unlike their predecessors, these had four doors along their body, and then they presented a new and interesting corporate livery. The only thing to lament from their arrival is that we´ve had to say goodbye to the five remaining Van Hool NewAG300.
