Unedited mobile phone shot of a biker outside the Amstel Hotel in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. No editing, no tricks, no Photoshop :)

This guy clearly is in a hurry like the Roadrunner himself, maybe he was just speeding up to avoid having to find his reflection back on the Interwebs, hehe...whatever his reason, I wish I could speed up the week like he sped up his bike, and then, when it's Friday, sloooow down and stretch&enjoy those few hours of free time, fun&laughter we call weekend...sigh ;-)

Have a good start into the new week, take care but take it easy!

Last night Lulu and I went to Exchange place to see the Tribute in Light, we got there just as they were starting and stopped into the Vu bar at the Hyatt for a couple of drinks till it got a little darker, met a couple there who come here each year to see it as they had friends affected by the tragedy was nice but a little emotional talking to them, I promised them to post a couple of shots so here they are

as you can see my shots looked far better on the back of a camera than they do on a screen, I really need to get out and practice night shots

Looks better as a thumbnail with the wrong reading glasses on :)

I was keeping this shot for Friday but I don't have anything green, can you believe that? Ok! I have two actually, one was the droppie but since I did the drop yesterday I thought I'd give it change for today, as for the second one; I wasnt satisfied with it.

#253/365 Here it is...the 14mm in action. This shot is a tribute to 2 movies. Ron Howard's 1982 "Night Shift", A comedy starting Henry Winkler and Michael Keaton. And the more fitting the 1997 thriller "Nightwatch" Staring Ewan McGregor (who plays playa law student who takes a job as a night watchman at a morgue).

Just to clarify I took this photo at Thomas Miller Mortuary in Corona. This embalming room was not this dark and creepy...it was very bright and clean (and not scary what so ever). It's PP'd to look scary.

This picture was taken in Shibuya. I took this picture on this very crowded intersection. There were sooo many people, but all were just hurrying by. Everyone was rather anonymous. Here for example you cannot see any faces but still a lot of people.

Bags are very important in Japan. Especially from Louis Vuitton. I have never seen so many LV-bags. But it's so boring because they all look alike. It's like a very important status symbol. I heard during the trip that young girls are even going into prostitution to earn money for LV bags.

These bags here are not from LV- though u can certainly see that Shibuya is a very remarkable shopping district.

During our trip to Japan we stayed the first 4 days in Tokyo. By the way: I upload the pictures in an chronological order. This was taken on the first day also, so expect more :-)

Bosphorus Bridge

The Bosphorus Bridge, is connecting Europe and Asia. The Bosphorus Bridge had the 4th longest suspension bridge span in the world when it was completed in 1973, and the longest outside the United States. At present, it is the 16th longest suspension bridge span in the world

Nowadays, around 180,000 vehicles pass daily in both directions, almost 85% being automobiles. On 29 December 1997, the one-billionth vehicle passed the bridge. Fully loaded, the bridge sags about 90 cm (35 in) in the middle of the span.

* On 15 May 2005 at 7.00 a.m. local time, U.S. tennis star Venus Williams played a show game with Turkish standout İpek Şenoğlu on the bridge, the first tennis match ever to be played on two continents. The event was organized as a promotion ahead of the 2005 WTA Istanbul Cup and lasted five minutes. After the exhibition, they both threw a tennis ball into the Bosphorus.

* On 17 July 2005 at 10.30 a.m. local time, British Formula One driver David Coulthard drove his Red Bull racing car on the bridge first from the European side to the Asian side, and then turning with a spectacular powerslide at the toll plaza back to the European side for show. He parked his car in the garden of Dolmabahçe Palace where his ride had started. While crossing the bridge with his Formula 1 car, Coulthard was picked up by the automatic surveillance system and charged with a fine of 20 Euros because he passed through the toll booths without payment. His team accepted to pay for him.(From wikipedia)

É assim a vida do Malaquias...

Feliz fim de semana, amigas!!!

Buff the fender...

Thunderbird First generation (1955-1957)

The Ford Thunderbird began life in February 1953 in direct response to Chevrolet's new sports car, the Corvette, which was publicly unveiled in prototype form just a month before. Under rapid development, the Thunderbird went from idea to prototype in about a year, being unveiled to the public at the Detroit Auto Show on February 20, 1954. Like the Corvette, the Thunderbird had a two-seat coupe/convertible layout. Production of the Thunderbird began later on in 1954 on September 9 with the car beginning sales as a 1955 model on October 22, 1954. Though sharing some design characteristics with other Fords of the time, such as single, circular headlamps and tail lamps and modest tailfins, the Thunderbird was sleeker and more athletic in shape, and had features like a faux hood scoop and a 150 mph (240 km/h) speedometer hinting a higher performance nature that other Fords didn't possess. Mechanically though, the Thunderbird could trace its roots to other mainstream Fords. The Thunderbird's 102.0 inches (2,591 mm) wheelbase frame was mostly a shortened version of that used in other Fords while the car's standard 292 cu in (4.8 L) Y-block V8 came from Ford's Mercury division.[2]

Though inspired by, and positioned directly against, the Corvette, Ford billed the Thunderbird as a personal luxury car, putting a greater emphasis on the car's comfort and convenience features rather than its inherent sportiness.[2] Designations aside, the Thunderbird sold exceptionally well in its first year. In fact, the Thunderbird outsold the Corvette by more than 23-to-one for 1955 with 16,155 Thunderbirds sold against 700 Corvettes.[3] With the Thunderbird considered a success, few changes were made to the car for 1956. The most notable change was moving the spare tire to a continental-style rear bumper in order to make more storage room in the trunk. However, the addition of the weight at the rear caused steering issues, and was changed back in 1957. Among the few other changes were new paint colors, the addition of circular porthole windows in the fiberglass roof to improve rearward visibility, and a 312 cu in (5.1 L) Y-block V8 making 215 horsepower (160 kW) when mated to a 3-speed manual transmission or 225 horsepower (168 kW) when mated to a Ford-O-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission.

The Thunderbird was revised for 1957 with a reshaped front bumper, a larger grille and tailfins, and larger tail lamps. The 312 cu in (5.1 L) V8 became the Thunderbird's standard engine, and now produced 245 horsepower (183 kW). Other, even more powerful versions of the 312 cu in (5.1 L) V8 were available including one with two four-barrel Holley carburetors and another with a Paxton supercharger delivering 300 horsepower (220 kW). Though Ford was pleased to see sales of the Thunderbird rise to a record-breaking 21,380 units for 1957, company executives felt the car could do even better, leading to a substantial redesign of the car for 1958.

Cape Moreton Lighthouse was built from local sandstone in 1847 by the NSW Government. QLD was not declared a separate state until 2 years later….ok ok, I know what you NSW folks now say.

It was built because of the increasing traffic to the northern coast , but for a long time was the only light on the 3,236 miles of coastline.

The entrance into Moreton Bay is scattered with wrecks that attest the notoriousness of the bay.

Standing 23m high, this structure is the only example of a stone lighthouse in Queensland. Rare elements including external masonry and internal cast ironstairs cases still remain intact.

The original light source oil wick. It was converted in in 1930 to pressurised acetylene gas. This installation did not continue for long as in 1937 the apparatus was converted to 240v electricity. Today the Cape Moreton Lighthouse is fully solar powered and automated and plays an important part in the Australian east coast navigation network.

Vane: Boon or Bane *My blog post on June 5, 2009

leadmovement.wordpress.com/2009/06/05/vane-boon-or-bane/

Excerpt:

There have been many conflicting views on the aesthetic factor of wind turbines. While others find them utterly ugly and a blight because “they will spoil the view in remote, rural areas”, as noted by Sami Grover of Carrboro, NC, USA and as posted in the readers’ comment box for an on-going survey at TreeHugger (one of my favorite web/blog sites), more people find them elegant and beautiful. Our very own windmills in Bangui, the first of its kind in Southeast Asia, have been the subject of countless fascinating photos all over the web. The wind turbines were featured prominently in the WOW Philippines Regine Velasquez tourism campaign which is still being aired on tv, making the town of Banqui a top tourist destination in Ilocos. I, for one, couldn’t resist the urge to participate in the TreeHugger survey. While I agree that they are disastrous to biodiversity, since birds accidentally get caught by the freewheeling vanes once they’re on (though it has been reported that birds have also collided with skyscraper buildings, towers, and aircrafts — more disastrous because they involve the loss of human lives), I also appreciate their beauty — defininitely, better than smog and soot from too much technological advancement. A green business, it helps mitigate the worsening environment situation by lessening the accumulation of greenhouse gases.

Che ragazza meravigliosa, è la stessa che era con me nella foto.

29 Shot HDR Panoramic.

I've borrowed a Canon 5D Mk II, and tonight I put it to the test, and now I want to buy one.

Matt and I headed north at around 3pm, we shot some nice ND 400 stuff at the S.S. Dicky and then stopped in at the Wild horse Lookout for an amazing sunset and view of the Glass House Mountains.

Three hours of post processing, no colours altered, HDR blending and stitching. This final shot is 1/5 of the original size.

Oh, and well, when Matt said getting up here was a decent walk, I did not believe him, haha, if it was not for the water tanks at the top, I might have died.

Enjoy.

About The Glass House Mountains

The Glass House Mountains were named by James Cook as he sailed north up the coast of what is now Queensland in 1770 as part of his epic voyage aboard his ship HM Bark Endeavour. They were so called as the shape of the mountains reminded him of the huge glass furnaces (glasshouses) back in his native Yorkshire.

Mt Beerwah is the highest peak within the park at 555 m (1,820 ft). Mount Coonowrin 377 metres is the second highest and Mt Tibrogargan at 364 m (1,190 ft) is the third highest. Walking tracks normally allow access to the summits of Mount Beerwah and Mount Tibrogargan (although Mount Beerwah summit track is closed as of April 2009), however climbing Mount Coonowrin is prohibited due to the danger of rock falls.

This picture was shot on a tripod with three exposures @ F3.5 ISO 100 (-2..0..+2EV) Another 3-exposure shots was captured @ F11 ISO 100, at 1 sec. exposure time, for the waterflow and sun burst. I used Photomatix to create the HDR with tonemapping and detail enhanced. I increased the overall saturation with Hue/Saturation in Photoshop. Curve adjustment to increase the overall contrast. Unsharp Mask to increase detail on the rocks.

Here it is. Sunrise at Sunrise Point on Mt Rainier from this past Wednesday. This was the first time I had ever traveled to Sunrise on Mt Rainier. My normal stomping grounds on this mountain is at Paradise. I got up at 3:00am to get here at 5:30am. Plenty of time as the sun is rising later, around 6:15am. As it was going to be a warm day, I wore shorts and a t-shirt. Not prepared for 36 degrees at Sunrise!

Well, the spectacular sunrise warmed me up. This point is at about 6,800 feet, the highest point you can drive in Mt Rainier National Park. Paradise sits at about 5,400 feet.

I combined three exposures -2,0,+2 in Photomatix, some tone mapping and then compressed in Photoshop. I adjusted the saturation only a small amount, as the color you see here was really painted by Mother Nature herself!
