Наша сказочная принцесса с виду казалась обыкновенной. Она также, как и все ее ровесницы, тайком наблюдала за мальчиками и также посмеивалась в кулачок над ними, играющими в детские игры. Все было так, но не совсем.
Почему-то, по мере взросления нашей будущей королеве становилось все скучнее со своими ровесниками. Может быть оттого, что любила много читать, может быть потому, что могла подолгу оставаться одна, находя в себе интересную собеседницу, а может быть потому что, когда принцесса была совсем маленькой, ее папа-король подарил любимой дочурке большущий телескоп, в который принцессе полюбилось наблюдать за звездами. А всякий раз рассматривая звезды, она в одно мгновение оказывалась так высоко и далеко от этого мира, что то, что происходило в настоящем, казалось ей слишком обыденным и приземленным...
I rolled out a shallow bowl using terracotta with a hefty portion of mosses, lichens, and fireplace ash from Maine. The asterisks are a series of "x" shapes from terracotta incompletely coated in aluminum oxide with clear glaze. For the second firing the asterisks were "glued" on with glaze. This is about 16 inches long.

the workroom received all 22 colour of the Asterisks collection. Full Metre, Half Metre and Fat Quarter bundles are available while they last.
Asterisk Block for a project my friend Sarah is doing for children in foster care, called Quilting for Kids. I got the idea from Lee's block here. I am extra-super proud of this one, because I figured out the maths all by myself! There's a first time for everything!

The EaDo neighborhood of Houston, just opposite the freeway from downtown and the city's CBD by I-69 is home to the Graffiti Park and trendy/hipster-ish bars and restaurants. Or, quirky, in the case of the Truckyard, where you'll find all kinds of interesting things in addition to good, ice cold beer (and apparently cheesesteaks, too). You can also find the fab four standing tall on the grounds of the 8th Wonder of the World Brewery. Brother's Taco House has you covered for cheap, authentic Mexican over on Emancipation Avenue. Or if you prefer, Vinny's wants you to know that "a slice is nice." If those options don't appeal to you, then you can always get you some moontang at the Rodeo Goat. Saturday was a pretty good day. I went to my WW meeting, met my first 25 pound goal, met my friends for dinner and a surprise Easter egg hunt and didn't cry at all. : ) It was a very emotional week and I pretty much teared up at least once every day, but not this day. Thank goodness. Maybe I have finally kicked the blues. Fingers crossed.
