It's a common Green Darner, I believe. These insects tend to hover in one place, so it's not as difficult to photograph them in flight as it might seem.

At these dark and mysterious ruins the Jacobite army regrouped following the disasterous battle of Culloden....
Sonnenberg Gardens, also known as Sonnenberg Gardens and Mansion State Historic Park, Canandaigua, New York, USA, at the North end of Canandaigua Lake, in the Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York. The house and gardens are open to the public every day, May through October.
The quaint fishing village of Eland’s Bay (Elandsbaai) might be only two hours from the city of Cape Town, but it is about as far off the beaten track as you can get, with so little travelling time.
Eland’s Bay is one of those gems that have managed to elude the rush of development and city dwellers to stake their claim on a piece of the coast - this is sand and sea with little else to lure the average holiday maker. The modest seaside town is worth the rather arduous journey (roads tend to be quite dilapidated as you head closer to Eland’s Bay with a dirt road detour to contend with), particularly as Verlorenvlei (lost natural wetland) - one of the biggest estuaries on the Cape West Coast region with thousands of birds including flamingos and pelicans - lies on the approach to Eland’s Bay. Verlorenvlei is the site of no fewer than 232 types of birds.
Seen in Kula Botanical Gardens, Maui, Hawaii. I think it is a purple / violet Iris flower. Hope you like it.

Un jour de juin juste avant le coucher du soleil, j'étais là pour admirer la sortie des pêcheurs du port de M'diq pour la nuit, c'étais un magnifique spectacle.

In order to get sunset pictures, the water taxis I took, speed out to the open waters of the lagoon that surrounds Venice! The sun's glow filled the sky and the water.

Surprisingly to me, these birds seem to be relatively common near where I live now in Michigan. This one was shot against an almost totally white sky, so I dropped it onto a cloud background to add some interest.
During my morning shooting with David Frey at LaJolla Tidepools, I scrambled from one location to the next gathering up every composition I could see. It was nice to watch the colors in the sky slowly morph from deep blues to purples and then to yellows and oranges. A miracle that most take for granite. :)
Thank you for taking the time to visit and as always, your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!! :) Have a great weekend one and all. :)
