Windows Vista tip: My computer had been slowing way down. I run Vista and there is a widget on the desktop that shows processor usage that was pegging out. I talked to one of the guys I work with that's in IS and he told me to try downloading / running Adobe Shockwave uninstaller. It worked like a charm. ( Thank you Kevin Marshall, you rock !!) I guess there was a stuck install ?? Definitely a bug with Adobe and Vista.. I have not re-installed Shockwave yet but have not come across an application where I need it. I was told to re-install if I do. It's a wierd one so I thought I'd pass it along considering the dramatic performance increase I experienced and how difficult it was to find.

Echo is running solo for now as Teddy is on a two week strict crate recovery. He’s doing much better and so we are breathing a bit easier. On Easter Sunday we had to take him to the emergency vet as he was off his food and clearly not well. Long story short, he managed to snag a chicken bone on Friday (yes, just one) and then apparently decided to follow it with a heaping helping of mulch for dessert. These things rarely result in the need for surgery according to the vet, but we just got “lucky” and Teddy was the exception. After multiple xrays, sonogram and bloodwork, it was determined he had an intestinal blockage requiring surgery. Surgery was Monday and we brought him home on Tuesday. We are now one week in to recovery and he seems to be doing so much better. Thankfully. Unfortunately, the vet assures me he will have learned nothing from these bad decisions and would do it all again tomorrow given the chance.

Some people miss their pets or loved ones when they’re away for a period of time…that’s kind of the way I feel as I really miss seeing the sunset at the Huntington Beach Pier…with the sun setting much earlier now, getting down there in time has proven to be difficult. To fill my need, here is one taken several weeks ago.

Took a double take...

I hadn't seen or heard the hawks in a long time. This one suddenly appeared this afternoon. I wonder if the continuous rain early this year didn't cause them to abandon their nest. It will be interesting to see the nest again once the leaves fall off the trees this autumn.
