Today I had an engagement shoot (more to come with that one later) but it was cold and windy and it wasn't "nice" fall weather it was "hold on to your hat winter is coming" fall weather. So I'm posting a shot from a weekend up at the cottage.
I remember the day I took this picture so well, and I wonder if it is because I took the picture or because it is a day that stands out in memory for some reason. The thing is there is no real reason for it to stand out. I spent the day lazing around on the dock, read a book (The New Culture of Learning-I know I am super exciting) and then over cooked the perogies I made for dinner into a soggy mess. Oh yeah you can screw up perogies. I'm missing summer.

It is a choice between this boat ride or a walk in the woods for photographs of rainforest flora. I chose the latter. The boat can wait but the species might be gone sooner with the news of full implementation of exploration in the adjacent forests. I have to hurry. There are more species waiting to be photographed.

having joint custody of Roxy is really hard at times like these when Dad takes her with him on holiday and I miss her like crazy :(
She's been gone for 6 days now...I probably won't see her for another couple of weeks yet but at least I know she's missing me just as much. Dad says she mopes around all day or picks fights with the other doggies.
This is her fav pink blanky she sleeps on. Wherever blanky goes, Roxy follows, but I totally forgot to give it to Dad before he left so it's on my lap right now -sorry Roxy, I bet you're missing it lol

I came back and revisited this one in post...I'm glad I did, I like what it turned into.
The Missing Man Formation is the Air Force’s traditional symbol to honor comrades who lost their lives in battle. This display, located on Hickam AFB near the entrance channel to Pearl Harbor, was unveiled in September 1995 and is dedicated to the men and women of the USAF – past, present and future.
The "Milk Carton" represents the statement, "Dont cry over spilled milk.." however it was in addition to an essay I wrote when I was applying to college, taking an everyday item and explaining how it represented my life.
The essay is long as hell, so in short, the missing child in the portrait is myself at 2 years old. It is a memory in a sense -- my parents divorced when I was a teenager, which is the expiration date that is on the milk carton.
The carton of milk reflects on the relationship I have with my parents, more-so the relationship they do not have with one another. Their relationship was like a carton of milk, just dripping until the last drop fell.
I wanted to box up the emotions and such I had during this time, so I decided to have it added permanently to the back of my left calf. I essentially became missing at this time and my whole life has changed since, which will be reflected in the addition to the bottom which I have not had done yet..
