As in the past tense of lay, not telling us porkies!

A Flickr friend recently made me realise I have a gaping hole in my Australian animal posts. I have emu, kangaroo, tassie devil but was missing the obvious. So here is a little chap doing what Koala's do best - sleeping in impossible positions in trees. Still I'd prefer a koala bear to that other Aussie deadly creature know to terrify overseas visitors - the drop bear!

Cheers all :)

The fountain was cast in Paris and completed for the 1876 International Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia, the same exhibit at which Bartholdi displayed the Statue of Liberty’s right arm and torch. Bartholdi had originally intended to complete the Statue of Liberty in 1876 in time for the Country's Centennial, but construction was delayed. While the remainder of the statue was being completed in Paris, Bartholdi displayed the arm and torch at the Philadelphia Exhibition, along with his commissioned fountain

And of course, home of the wonderful, ever reliable Barkas B1000 - minibuses manufactured during the heydeys of East Germany.

this is why photography is so intriguing to me. why it fills me up. it is the single moment when all falls into place and is captured. looking back on this day, if she had not been in her gown and the sun didn't fall just perfectly, or the rain didn't shower... her shadow would not have made a heart... happy moments & shutter clicks...

early morning, foggy farm fences, looking forward to some Spring sunshine, HFF!

Human silhouette in front of the vast majority our Milky Way Galaxy. Truly breath taking to even contemplate that we are nothing compared to the cosmos. Every human experience means almost nothing and lasts for almost no time relative to the age and magnitude of the universe. So sit back and enjoy one of the most spectacular shows it has to offer

Landscape near Burlo-Vardingholter Venn

Y no me defraudó.

The construction of this building began approx 600, during the reign of the Visigoths, as the church of St.Vincent. This church bought from the Christians in the years 784-785 emir of Cordoba of the Umayyad dynasty, Abd ar-Rahman I (756-788) and built a mosque in its place. Mosque adjoined to palace of the Emir of Cordoba. Work on its construction began in the year 785. It was developed in stages over two centuries. Inside was created the forest about 850 columns. In 1236 Córdoba was recovered by Christians. At the beginning of the 16th century Emperor Charles V ordered to demolish part of the mosque was built and the church-cathedral, which, despite the large size, is lost in the forest of columns. The initiator of this idea, Emperor Charles V said about it later;

"Ruined something that was unique and have built something that can be seen everywhere."

Budowę obiektu rozpoczęto ok. 600 roku, za panowania Wizygotów, jako kościół pod wezwaniem św. Wincentego. Kościół ów odkupił od chrześcijan w latach 784-785 emir Kordoby z dynastii Umajjadów, Abd ar-Rahman I (756-788) i wybudował na jego miejscu meczet. Meczet przylegał do pałacu emira Kordowy. Prace przy jego budowie rozpoczęto w 785 r. Był etapami rozbudowywany przez dwa wieki. We wnętrzu stworzono las około 850 kolumn. W 1236 r. Kordoba została odzyskana przez chrześcijan. Na początku XVI wieku Cesarz Karol V kazał wyburzyć część meczetu i pobudowano kościół-katedrę, który mimo dużych rozmiarów, ginie w lesie kolumn. Inicjator tego pomysłu, Cesarz Karol V powiedział o niej później;

After the strenuous round trip with many kilometers, the numerous pyramid climbs and numerous city tours in a great and interesting part of Mexico, I allow myself another 3 days of relaxation in this beautiful Hotel Catalania on the Riviera Maya.

Once again thank you very much for visits, favorite and comments. It's much appreciated.

Here's my take on the nights festivities at Shiprock in New Mexico. Wayne Pinkston, Sandra Herber, Chris Wrey, Willa Wei, Huibo Hou, and Wenjie Qiao and I, all converged on this formation with some serious intent on one very windy chilly evening.

Hot tip of the day!!! :)

I always keep a full-size carabiner attached to the handle on My Tamrac Expedition7 camera pack and a mini titanium carabiner attached to the hook on my tripod, and this was one of those rare times that I had to attached my camera pack to my tripod. :)

HTT!

I do not know why that chair was there. But I could not leave out the landscape. 😉

With many thanks to David Hulme (here on Flickr) who's wonderful image of this wreck entirely inspired this picture. One of my all time favourite images here on Flickr, its impact was so strong as to finally make my mind up to visit this area of Scotland, and making my own picture of it was always at the top of my itinerary.
