Matchbox venture into Australian derived Holden pick-ups isn't a fairly recent trend, they were doing it back in the late 70's. I actually had a couple of these Holden HJ's in cream when I was a child along with the later Ruff Trek reissue, sadly all now gone. With this in mind it was a lovely surprise to receive this red one recently as part of a charity shop haul. Its really not in bad shape at all though predictably has lost its rear motorbikes which is no bad thing as it now looks much cleaner and uncluttered without them.
Lesney era quality ensures a full metal weighty construction and working suspension. Brightwork to lights, grille and bumpers comes courtesy of Molotow ;-)
Plenty of space for stuff, and even things. I added about 4 studs to the length as the build went on.

A different sort of light source. I mean it's still the sun, obviously, but now it's coming from the left. Also my shadow.

Hanna Johnson slides but fails to keep the ball from going out of bounds during the first period in the Reginal Championship game against Perry Meridian.
Alright enough bodged Australian themed captions. I might as well tell you about the MacPherson strut front suspension and steering, 4 speed manual trans, leaf spring and torsion beam rear suspension, and limited slip diff*.
*I'm pretty sure that's this car. I should really get a good pic of it.
This week has been busy and somewhat stressful. My trip North with my Granddad in August had been moved on Monday night to this Saturday. I was very excited for this trip because I would get my new camera a month before, so had plenty of time to adapt to it but due to the very quick change of dates, my dad and I have been hunting down camera shops and yesterday I picked up my 5D Mark3 with the 24-105mm lens and battery grip. I haven’t had the chance to test it yet as I’ve been packing and working out the last bits of the schedule. But tomorrow I leave and will be on the Farne Islands this Sunday :) So expect photos!
On a another note, I've been listening to the Godfather soundtrack all day. Don't ask why...
