The Kapellenschule in the open-air-museum in Detmold is a combined church and school building from the 19th century. Heiligendamm is the oldest seaside resort in Germany and continental Europe, 1793 saw the establishment. The place is due to the visible from the sea white row of houses near the beach, the "White Town by the Sea".
