3/100 - Rodelyn

Rodelyn nearly escaped me as I was working in the lounge and pondered whether she would make a good candidate for the 100 Strangers project. She was meeting with a professor / instructor and upon finishing, they both got up from her table and walked out the door together, making it feel odd to get up and potentially stop the both of them. Conveniently though, she came back and sat down alone at the very same table!

Rodelyn is the very first Filipino I have knowingly met, yet I was completely unable to guess her origins. Given the chance, I ventured a guess that she was Persian. Although completely far from the truth, ironically she was born in Yemen, so I was partially-correct in my guess to her origins (at least her place of birth). She came to the US and started as a music performance major, yet changed to international studies with a focus on human rights and race relations. She minors in both music and African diaspora studies, yet this odd combination reflects both her past and her present interests.

Episode #3 was interesting in the fact that this "one that got away" actually came back and I managed to catch my originally anticipated shot for the day!

P.S. I LOVED her hair.
