Good morning RDU! My name is Courtney and I am so excited to hold the baton today! My family moved here when I was in 5th grade so I like to consider myself a Raleigh native. In fact, a couple of years ago I moved back into the neighborhood we moved to when we came to Raleigh circa ‘93. When we moved here, this neighborhood was only a fraction of the size it is now. It went through a ton of growth the 12 years my family lived here and continued after we left. I like living here now because I am a short walk from the Neuse River Trail that you currently see my pups (Astro & Blaze) standing on. It also brings back memories because I recall time in middle school exploring the woods where my home and trail are now. By high school they were clearcutting for development. In 1999, somewhere in the area behind my pups and where my current home is, a teenage girl and her 2 best friends got seriously stuck in mud while 4wheeling in her Jeep Wrangler! The NRT is also a section of the Mountains to Sea Trail. My pups and I are participating in the NC State Parks 100 Mile Challenge so this is a great opportunity to get miles in on a daily basis!
