036/100 Strangers - Kinnie
Having a spare afternoon, regular readers to my stranger write-ups know I would normally wander off down to Portsmouth. But as the D-Day 75th anniversary celebrations were taking place on this day, Portsmouth was in a bit of a state of lockdown with Donald Trump’s visit. So I decided to explore some locations in Southampton. One location I found on Google Maps was worth a look in person, and this is where I took this photo. In terms of the stranger, I first saw Kinnie as soon as I arrived when I was walking from the multi-story car park. However at this time, Kinnie was on her phone, which meant I followed one of my rules and not ask to people in the process of making calls. Having walked around a bit further, exploring one other Google Map location, which was unusable due to waste bins in the way, I wandered to the next location, which had full stranger potential as a location. Then diagonally across Guildhall plaza in Southampton I noticed Kinnie again, now with her friend. Walked across and asked the pair whether they would like a portrait, Kinnie was keen, friend less so. So often the case with couples. Cheekily, I then requested we walk back across the square to my preferred location. This shoot was relaxed, fun and a pleasure to do. Kinnie’s friend was acting as director, giving her posing advice, and everything seemed to fall into place. As usual, my normal investigative questioning was pretty poor, and came away with little information about Kinnie. But at times, prefer it that way.
Kinnie, did later email for copies of the pictures and posted a couple on her instagram account.
