The Peace of Wild Things
by Wendell Berry
When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

I was looking through some shots I once took in Baghdad, this one of a war-riddled wall. Coupled with a "self" portrait I felt compelled to create a moment in time - where millions around the world are reaching out, their arms raised high, their hearts filled with love, their voices crying...echoing bravely into the souls of the Ukrainian people. If you look closely you may see Cosmo flowers peaking through bullet holes, and blood spattered concrete (Cosmo means the reverse of ‘chaos’. These flowers represent dignity and peace.) May we all "rest in the grace of the world..." and in your own way reach out to all those who suffer so. #SaveUkraine #StopWarInUkraine
