Sir Frederick Samson Park
My beloved bush...since moving to Fremantle and living only minutes from the Sir Frederick Samson Park bush I have spent many hours walking through and taking thousands of images.
My favourite time to be out walking through the park is early morning, dawn and especially when it is misty; which is a very rare occurrence for this part of the world.
In Sir Frederick Samson Park there are very beautiful sections still hanging onto many of the original native vegetation diversity. With the deliberately lit fires and weed infestations 90% of this park is just hanging in there. At least the Fremantle City Council has a replanting program for those areas that are the weakest in diversity and a yearly weed spraying program.
The main trees in the park are the Tuart, Jarrah, Marri, Sheoak and Candle Stick Banksia. There are many diverse small bushes, shrubs and ground covers, small unique orchids, wildflowers and native grasses.
The images in this set have all been taken over the past four years when I first got my own little digital camera after my eldest daughter left home and went over to the east coast of Australia to live.
When I first started to take all these images I wanted to do a lot of superimposing but could not as I did not have enough images. Now four years later I have well over 70,000 images and most of them have been taken in Samson Park at dawn.
Now I can superimpose as much as I like but find the amazing beauty the park continuously reflects keeps me very busy recording and sharing through my Flickr photo-stream to many friends all around the world.
Enjoy...
