These towering buildings up to seven-storeys high, are fine examples of Wilhelminian brick Gothic architecture. The thick walls provide a safe storage for valuable merchandise such as Oriental rugs, tobacco, rum, coffee, tea, spices, cocoa, dried fruits as well as optical and mechanical apparatus – just as they did 100 years ago.
