The Bay Of Quinzee 2o13
by jwc 3o2
after having had nowhere to build for a few years, we decided to see what'd happen if we took it to the ice on the Ottawa River & constructed our only (so far) 2-storey lumitalo in Hull within sight of the Prince Of Wales railbridge. this is the first of any that received at least adequate documentation of the structure growing & some of our antics along the way.
the main chamber had 2 snow-couches flanking 2 walls on the west end of the room (the east end open), at least a 7-foot ceiling & several candle sconces. it would've accommodated at least a dozen people comfortably.
an S-bend tunnel led to a 2nd room for 4 with a back door that put one at the foot of a staircase leading up to the roof & another mousehole into a 2nd floor "attic" room, big enough for 3 & with 2 arched windows that looked out over the bay toward the railbridge.
immediately on finishing the 2nd floor & deciding to have a small party, after which i'd sleep over (probably upstairs), some homeless guy moved in, which put a bit of a damper on the evening, not atall improved by what we found later when the thing starting melting.
workers i can recall:
Catherine Johnston, Rachel Lindsey, Rob Ouellette, Jessica Pieterse, Melissa Pieterse, Sierra Prunner, Gio Sampogna, Kelsea Shore, Ben Walker, Rachel Zavitz.
