NYC Shoe Shine *
This is #1 of my strangers Candid photos.
I've never owned what might be considered a reasonably good camera and have recently made the jump from disposable point and shoot to a canon S100 & EOS 600 after being inspired by a friend, a couple of colleagues and a fella that I spoke to who takes street photos.
I know nothing about photography & hope that one day I might use the cameras I own to their full potential.
So, my first photo with a half decent camera! Also my first candid street shot!!
This was taken on the S100 on the 'Auto Setting'.
The photo was taken at the end of November 2012. I don't really know why I wanted to get this picture? I hadn't decided at that point that I wanted to learn about photography. There was just something about the scene....
The guy in the coat looked like my image of a typical Italian New Yorker. His features, behaviour, body language and interaction with the shoe shine man was great to watch. They were like old friends. I didn't really get the shot I wanted. The guy smoking would lean his head back to exhale the smoke. Thats the shot I wanted, but, he finished his cigarette.
Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the100 Strangers' Candid Flickr Group page.
