Marietta, Ohio's First City

by jcsullivan24

Marietta, Ohio in a day. Marietta founded 1788 and is the first permanent settlement of the new United States in the Northwest Territory. We parked in the visitor center’s parking lot and walked and explored the town. We visited the Campus Martius (Rufus Putnam House) and Ohio River Museums (W P Snyder, Jr Towboat) and ate lunch outside at the Riviera at the Valley Gem. Did get a short visit to Mound Cemetery. We did not finish with our visit and plan on returning. #ohiosfirstlove
Sept 2 2020 We returned to Marietta to ride the Valley Gem Sternwheeler and explore the town. Sadly The Castle was closed. Lunch at The Galley on 2nd Street.
