Cedar Waxwings in Christmas Berry
I used this image for my 2009 Christmas Card!
I processed in Lightroom using my Glorious Nature Preset called "Afternoon Glow".. then opened in CS3...used Isabelle LaFrance's Soulful Action called "Warm Retro" from her Retro Love Collection..and then added Jill and Paul's Flypaper Texture called "Pompeii Stucco"...lastly I flattened the image and applied Florabella Textures and Actions "Lighten/Brighten" and "Defog/Sharpen"..seeming to become standard actions for a lot of my photos..
Also..this one I handheld that 300mm f/2.8 lens..and didn't pay attention to the shutter speed....so I shot it at only 1/200s...pretty much my limit for handheld..there is the slightest amount of camera shake...and also the waxwing was swaying a bit on the berries..and the image was backlit...but I loved it so much..even though org. shot was totally over-exposed and shot out...all the processing really seemed to help it out though...so I didn't have to trash it...thanks everyone for creating such fantastic and useful actions, presets and textures!
I would like to thank everyone who took the time to vote and comment on my hummingbird image that made it into the 100 finalists list for "Nature's Colors" contest in Outdoor Photographer Magazine...it hit #2 for awhile this morning, but last time I checked, it was at #12 .. the voting goes on until 12-22 from what I can figure out..if you have time, please take a look..you can give it a rating vote anywhere from 1 to 5 stars, with 5 stars being the best, of course! If you register and add your own website info..and then make a comment..your name becomes a link to your website...which may direct some traffic your way as well...
Happy Upcoming Turkey Day..I may take a few days off from posting for the holiday .. playing it by ear..but in case I do..have a blessed and grateful Thanksgiving Day..
