One of my favorite places to go on walks is along a nature trail in Lake Anne, in Reston, Virginia. There’s an abundance of nature in the area, and along the trail, which provides a brief respite from the bustling urbanization of nearby Reston Town Center. As humans, we tend to give human qualities to things that aren’t human, like animals, cars, architecture, and in this case, trees. This one had a peaceful, humble quality about it, as it appeared to be bowing quietly in a small clearing in the woods, basking in rays of sunlight randomly piercing the forest canopy.
