This is one of two massive, old trees that sit on top of a hill at Ida Lee Park, in Leesburg, Virginia. Other nearby trees were recently cut down, most likely due to safety and park maintenance, however I can’t imagine the park without the presence of this gentle giant, whose absence would be a void not unlike that of a lost limb. I’ve proposed to and gotten married to Kris under its silent watch. I’ve fallen asleep, and witnessed a solar eclipse in the shade of its canopy.
