USS Alabama

USS Alabama accumulated nine U.S. #Navy battle stars for her World War II service.The ship was decommissioned on 9 January 1947, at the Naval Station at Seattle, Washington, and from there sent to the Bremerton Group of the United States Pacific Reserve Fleet. She remained at Bremerton until stricken from the Naval Vessel Register on 1 June 1962. The ship was awarded the state of #Alabama on 16 June 1964, and was formally turned over on 7 July 1964 in ceremonies at Seattle. Alabama was then towed to her permanent berth at Battleship Memorial Park, Mobile, Alabama, arriving in #MobileBay on 14 September 1964, and opening as a museum ship on 9 January 1965.
