FDNY Rescue 1

FDNY Rescue 1 is perhaps the most well-known rescue company in the Western Hemisphere, and for good reason! Rescue 1 responds to any fathomable scenario in the largest city in the United States and has seen some of the most notable incidents in the fire service. The phrase “Outstanding” is a quote that describes the members of Rescue 1 and was coined by the late Captain Terry Hatton who, along with 10 other members of Rescue 1 and 332 other firefighters, made the ultimate sacrifice on that September morning.

 

Builder’s note: I’m first going to preface this by saying that I never thought I would build a Ferrara 😛 This 2019 Ferrara walk-in rescue version of FDNY Rescue 1 is a special MOC for me as I have always wanted to build a replica of the real thing! Going into the build, I knew that I needed to increase the scale a little bit to accommodate the functional compartments and the walk-in section, hence the 7 wide scale. I also decided to use the actual red doors (#ripwallet), and the seven 1x3x4 doors alone cost more than the rest of the pieces combined 😅 I also knew that some sacrifices would have to be made, like the ginormous rear lights (I didn’t want to actually cut a few pieces to make it work, sorry Sven lol 😅), and the front “R1” decal on the bumper. But having said that, I tried to fit all the other decals and functionality as needed! Special thanks to my broski D2 for the major assist on the decals! As this was built several months ago, many ideas have directly stemmed from this build, some of which I have already posted (CBFD Squad 5), and others which are yet to come (hint: SFR and CBFD, the latter of which was not totally planned until late December, but yolo I guess lol).
