Me and My Shadow 9753

Nene mate for life. As a result they are usually seen in pairs. When in groups they are most often seen in even numbers. So when they take to the air they usually do so in pairs. These two took off together, shadowing each other like soul mates. The evening sun cast shadows of their wings across their torsos. Nene, or Hawaiian geese, are the State bird of Hawaii. They are listed as threatened by the IUCN. Due to significant conservation and reintroduction programs over the last several decades their numbers are on the rise. #ILoveBirds #ILoveNature #ILoveWildlife #Wildlife in #Hawaii #Nene #HawaiianGoose #HawaiiPacificParks #HawaiiVolcanoNationalPark #HiPacParks
