&-Wing (2020)
This Lego creation is part of the alphabet starfighter project I built with my 4 year old Star Wars obsessed son.
Now that I finished the alphabet starfighters, I'm tackling some of the special characters and numbers. People kept joking that I should do &, also known as ampersand. I'm sure you thought I wouldn't do it, but here we are! Ampersand is a ligature combination of the cursive letters E and T as et is Latin for "and". In a poll I held to determine the next symbol, ampersand lost out to question mark by two votes - but I built it anyway! I also held a poll for the color scheme. There were so many great suggestions (some will still be used) but Simon Liu had the winner with bright light yellow, dark bley and black!
I had just finished building the new LEGO Fiat and I also had a whole bunch of round quarter 1x1 tiles from the wonderful Dots sets. The main idea was to layer the colors on top of each other to create depth and details. The play features are the rotating weapons and I finally found a color scheme that worked to include the glow in the dark trans 1x2 tiles from set 10217 Diagon Alley! (Elliot was really impressed with glow in the dark Lego)
