L&N 40
The former Louisville & Nashville #8034 leads a Mother and Slug (6980-2380) west into Grand Rapids with what I believe was Q327 (might have been Q335, since this same set led the next Q334 east) on a very gloomy winter day. Since L&N had the most SD40-2s of any of the railroads that would come together to form CSX, their numbering scheme was adopted for that model. A couple of years after this shot was taken, #8034 would be rebuilt at Huntington into SD40-3 #4047.
