I almost didn't post this one as I have failed on the social side of this project and got no information on this stranger at all!
Last time I learned to find a good background and wait for a suitable subject. I already knew that while lunch time brings plenty of footfall, sometimes people are just too busy to take part in the project. Today I ventured out for an early lunch in the hope of finding some less busy shoppers.
I found a nice position on a bridge over the Clyde that I thought would make a nice background with the suspension wires sweeping into the corners. However when I saw this gentleman I thought I would shoot a tight crop as I liked the way his hat framed his face.
I stopped him and asked if he could spare a few minutes for my project. He agreed, but said he was on his way back to his car before his parking meter ran out. Drat!
So I concentrated on taking his photo and hoped I could chat with him afterwards. When I stopped he dashed off, refusing even to take my project card.
I'm going to have to make more effort to talk while taking the photos and also to get out when people are less busy.
This picture is #3 in my 100 strangers project. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the 100 Strangers Flickr Group page
