Burma Vol 1

by Time to try

Photographs taken during a three week visit to this amazing country and its people.

My father worked in Burma in the 1930’s, he worked for the Irrawaddy Flotilla Company and was the captain of a river boat, I think he worked in Burma for 5 or 6 years.

When the Japanese invaded the river boats were all sunk to avoid the Japanese being able to make use of them.

My aim in visiting Burma was to see as much as I could of the Irrawaddy and to understand a little of the job my father had.

It was a great trip and I was able to see the Irrawaddy and the people associated with it, in many ways not unlike the time when Father was there. The country does not have the money to spend on infrastructure work so that the river and the towns on the river were very much like they would have been all those years ago.
